Might be nothing, but SSN Saying odds on him Joining us have been slashed in the last few hours. Clearly betting money being thrown at the idea.

"SIGURDSSON BACK TO SPURS?

There's news of a very interesting market move from Sky Bet.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been cut from 22/1 at the start of the day to 5/4 to return to Tottenham.

Everton are favourite to sign the Iceland international at 4/5 and he can be backed at 7/1 to remain with Swansea."

Could be that this Tweet caused it or could be the fire behind the smoke...

Most likely because we posted that tweet some people threw bets in. Doesn't really mean anything

Thought I'd have a look at the transfer rumour section of SC, not one rumour of a player is exciting or better than what we already have imo.
Imagine our first 11 at other clubs and being linked with them, Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Son we'd probably have no chance of signing them at their current levels.
Hope some of us realise how good a team/squad we have at the moment, they will only get better. Keeping this team together is much more important than bringing players in, we should use this period to give more youngsters a chance.
Spending 30 mil on a squad player will not improve us. Would rather see the money used to improve contracts of current first team.

Easy to say lets improve the first team but hard to do with our budget & wage limit

Last season, our big problem was options at bench. Chelsea won the FA Cup tie because they had quality in bench & we had Sissoko. In Oct, Nov when we lose most points in PL, our creative/attacking option from bench did not work. Improving bench is where we should focus this season. Over the season, a player like Winks could play & challege for the first XI.

Gylfi certainly improves our option. He could come in last 30 minutes and swing a game the us with his accurate set pieces/free kicks. And he is more than average with ball at his feet too.

Wonder if the tweet was either to apply pressure to swansea or as a negotiating tool with another player. For instance Everton with Barkley, showing we have other targets, lowing the price?

Just a thought. But a strange tweet non the less.

Spot on. It was the depth of our attacking quality which let us down. Having Sissoko and Janssen to turn to off the bench or starting when Kane and 1/2 of AM's injured really weakened us. If Jansen can continue to improve and we can sign an AM of Son's level to replace Sissoko then we'll be in a great place.

He is not dynamic enough to cement a place in our midfield. Granted, he's good from set pieces, but need more than this to be seriously considered.

I don't think there is anything in the tweet, but I do think we could be using Gylfi as a bit of a negotiating tool with Everton (who are in for him) as part of our quest for Barkley...

Like Siggy, but im sorry, I dont think we should bring him back. He isnt good enough.
Have many times affirmed my love of his game. And he gives me reason to watch Swansea though their style of play is not as easy on the eyes as it once was. But I, like you, do not believe it is the right move for us. Swansea is built around him. He dictates the play and his limitations are minimized in such a setup. With us he would not have that luxury.

I actually think that if we continue to play the 352 that he'd be much better for us than the first time around. Playing out on the left didn't suit him at all but playing behind the striker he'd be very useful for us. The 352 also gives him 1 extra spot to fight for rather than just the 1 cam spot in a 433/4231.

It's amazing how something so innocuous can create a story. The media really are scraping the barrel here.

I was never a giant Gylfi fan (always thought he was a perfect "big fish in small pond" player) but I'd love him as a rotational player now. Just think he's too expensive.

Given how clubs are all doing creative signing announcements atm, i was expecting the last goal of that video to be him in our new kit scoring a banger at the training ground, then running up to the camera saying "I'm back bitches"
