On the contrary, Levy might even lower our bid knowing that they've now got Gylfi and are stuck with Ross. :)
He probably will taking into the account the injury too.

The danger on this one is other clubs coming in that would interest Ross. As long as that doesn't happen though I honestly think we could get him as low as £15-20m on the final day.

I really would rather us not play with fire when it comes to this transfer though, the longer we dilly dally the more chance there is of other clubs coming in.

Sigurdsson was total pants when he played for us. At the kind of money we would have to pay for him, who exactly would he replace ? His free kicks are definitely a level above Eriksen's but other than that he is not in the same class. Plus Levy would never pay huge money for a player almost 28 years old that he bought under AVB for 9m.

I don't think he was "total pants" for us. He was played mostly out of position and suffered a bit with injuries. I do agree though that there is no way we would be in for him either at this money or his age now. Still a very good player and his goals and assists in what was an especially crap Swansea team will be very useful for Everton. No where near a £50m player though...

Exactly. He has no pace, is weak on the ball and slow of thought. Decent for a mid-table side who don't face bus parkers each week but not good enough for us.

Tbf almost no one is near their price tag these days. He definitely was played out of position in a team in disarray, man is quality, don't get it twisted

He is decent player and tbf he was played out of position for us for two seasons - first season Bale played number ten and in the second season Eriksen was ahead of him. Even so he is one of those players that thrives being the focal point of the team and struggles when he has to adapt his game to fit in. He was never going to be the focal point of our and wasn't happy being a rotation option so I fully understand why we got rid.

I don't think he was bad for us and I would have no problem had he stayed around as Eriksen's back-up. He would have still got a fair bit of game time. But, as others have said, 40-50m is ludicrous.

Hopefully that sorts the Barkley to us transfer now.

This deal more than most represents how out of control the current transfer market has become. I never thought in my life time that any club irrespective of the cash they have, would sanction a £45m transfer for Siggy of all players

Good luck to him. I liked him from his Reading days and was really impressed when he smashed one in against us for Swansea before we signed him. We never saw the best of him but thanks for the £4.5m it will come in useful with our transfer budget!

Unbelievable that a fairly average player (no disrespect to Gylfi, but we sold him for a reason) is going to a fairly average club for £45m.

The world has officially gone mad.

Bit harsh, Gylfi is a good player. Just didn't suit our system, he'll do really well at Everton imo.

Averaged 9 goals and 8 assists in the league in his last three season with a bad team. There's been way worse deals over the last few years than this one.
