I know it's old ground but still people making the same mistakes

apparently over there according to one sage - Ramos knows very little about JD unlike us fans - JD should start much more often as he's a 'goal machine' -

now I like JD but Greaves was a goal machine, Allen for at least one season was a goal machine - lineker was a goal machine-

but JD mmmm - but hey what does Ramos know about football?

I've never posted on 606 as I refuse to get involve with the Wummery that goes on there - but I thought I'd share that gem with you - I know 57 will appreciate it

Of course some party pooper only went and pointed out that Bent had scored mores than the 'goal machine' - despite the fact that he is clearly useless (according to the sage(s) - but hey who wants facts?

I think JD will start tonight - I hope he gets a hat trick and becomes a goal machine - but ATM he ain't and that's a fact

Oh and someone else thinks JR has missed a trick by not starting JD in the last 2 games - that'll be the 2 games we won then - mmmmmmmm bad Ramos - you really **** up there didn't you - beating the 4th and 7th(?) placed teams in the league

Tonight is a big night for JD.

I think he is going to have a big game, I really hope so.

As much as he is overated by some he is certainly equally over dissed by others.

THe thing is the JD overraters are so much more vocal (especially at the Lane) - I see very little evidence on the more general boards (which I'm sorry to say don't tend to have the same level of debate as the more specialist boards like this one (yes I'm a terrible snob:) - there are of course many brilliant posters on boards like 606 but they get submerged in the utter nonsense that goes on there and elsewhere)

Bent on those kind of forums doesn't ge anywhere near the same overrating - indeed I wonder at times if JD isn't more liked than the clearly superior Berbatov

For whatever reason DC Defoe has become a little bit of a cult hero to some.

Don't ask me why as I know he's not the best striker in the world but there is something about the kid I really like, I think it's that I think he is a really honest player. I don't think I over rate him as a player but i just think there is more in him than a lot see.

Converseley I probably under rate Keane who I think is incredibly over rated by most, I just think there is very little between the 2 of them.

He had a big 22 mins until he was substituted tonight....

Would love to see him get a run in the team as i think given time he will score goals. He is a little selfish at times but in a way thats what makes him great!

Graham Roberts said that he threw an eppy when he got subbed and I think I'm right in saying that he threw his shirt down, in true eppy tradidion.

Could this be Defoe's last game.....?

well 101% credit to JD - fantastic cameo - so pleased for him - as I say I would it for him to become a true goal machine -

it was a great start tonight -

if we can make a final JD is one of many Spurs players who can make it to legend status - let's do it COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and by the way ole J 'miss a trick' Ramos didn't do too bad tonight did he - he gave JD his start - JD scored - what the coach wanted - obviously Zoko's ridiculous red card changed the game plan - but he ain't doing bad for someone who's only been at spurs five minutes and don't know as much as the fans :)

Haven't they both scored 5 goals this season?

edit, thought this was started after the match...

I think now they have - but goal machine form it ain't - greavesie in his prime used to have two or three times that by now

but as I keep saying - best wishes to JD - if he starts knocking em in like the true spurs goal machines he'll start most weeks -

but look at the situ - keane is more prolific - Berbatov is a god who is our only player who the top 4 (until very recently) would seriously want and pay serious money for (though JR might change that - JJ is already looking top 4 material now - a few others too)

so if JD doesn't start on Sat - it's no reflection on him - we have 4 top strikers - it's good we have

I can absolutely understand his being totally pissed off, but Juande had to make the call in the team's interest, and he got it absolutely right. That's why we're paying him shedloads of dosh. I'm sure JD will see that and be whooping it up with everyone else on the coach home.

And if he doesn't see that, well, sorry…

Now now boys. He wasn't throwing a tantrum at Juande, so put your knives away for another week.

He was mouthing off to the 4th official regarding the sending off. There was no other sub to be made and he knew that.

He's probably pissed cos Keano's back next week, meaning he's resigned to the bench until the next suspension/injury.

It seems very hard on Defoe that he is likely not to start against Arsenal. He's got 2 goals in his last 3 games despite not playing for much more than 20 minutes in any of them. I was watching live (albeit with crazy dutch commentary) and it seemed that he was pissed off more with the fourth official than the manager, and everything we've heard since then backs that up.

I really like Defoe, but one thing that winds me up about him is that he is offside so many times! I think if we watched him in a whole game it would stand out so much more how often he lets himself get caught (as he arguably should have done with his goal last night).

When he comes on as a sub, we see a few offsides and then a goal - so he seems brilliant. I can understand why he is so pissed off at not starting, but until he can sort that side of his game I agree with Ramos starting Keane and bringing Defoe on later.

As for Bent. At them moment for me, he should be 4th choice.

Oh good. I actually saw the first half on highlights only and I thought he was throwing a Ghaly-like tantrum. Good to know it was at the refs. That seems much more like Defoe.
