Ramos certainly has his work cut out.

He needs to teach the players to look to move the ball forward as soon as they receive it. At the moment we give other teams so much time to organise themselves at the back, its no wonder we can't break them down.

Back to today though, I think were unlucky not to get a third, and it certainly would have lifted the mood around the club.

I think winning away would have massivley lifted the mood around the club - first away win this season I think :)

Oh and well done Robbo - yes he didn't face any dangerous crosses bar one - which he saved well- but probably his best performance all season

We just weren't aggressive enough today, once again, we show quality to go 2-0 up, then sit back and get complacent.

It's frustrating, but I think once KPB settles a bit more and gets a feel for the rest of the team we're going to see some big performances from him.

I want him to be good (and have done since day one) but Zokora is fucking shit.

So is Dawson at the moment, the guy used to win EVERYTHING in the air, now all he wins is AIR.

Lennon flatters to deceive. He doesn't do anything. ......

That's going to be a very unpopular thing to say, but it's hard to dissagree with. I keep reading positive things about Lennon's recent perfromances, but I haven't seen anything to be excited about. I'm pleased with his attitude and he's trying to impose himself on games, but when he gets on the ball, if I'm honest I don't expect it to end in anything positive. He hasn't played well since the first half of last season. I think the problem is that he is one dimensional, and defenders know how to deal with him now. Other than beating defenders with pace, there really isn't much to his game. I think he may well be at his most effective as an impact sub.

It was nice to see a bit of fire in Berbatov's belly after a bit though.

I reckon he's got a sending off in him at the moment, then we'll see some class.

You heard it here first!

I think you could be right. He hasn't done anythig yet, but he has showed a desire to make things happen and tries to play with conviction, unlike our other CMs. When KPB gets on the ball you can see him looking to try and make things happen. If he's going to be good enough only time will tell, but so far he looks like he has the allround game our current CMs lack.

Lennon wasn't great today but his pace today got a player red carded - so job done from him

Lennon flatters to deceive. He doesn't do anything. There's no point doing his jigs if he can't cross a ball. He is sooo easy to defend against. He was taught a lesson in crossing by Malbranque. Even if he tried a hundered times, there is no way Lennon would be able to make 2 crosses of that quality on his left foot! I think our buying English players ideology is in tatters. Robinson, Dawson, Lennon, Jenas, Defoe....all good players but not great. Keane, Bale, Malbranque will be on Ramos untouchable list....jury out on all the others.......

Lennon on form will cause any team problems.

Didn't see the game....over on FTL they are saying we were awful.

True or the usual over-reaction?

No, it's pretty true. Personally, I found it utterly depressing to see almost every player playing so much worse than they were a year or two ago.

Do you think it is just a question of form or that teams now know exactly what to expect from Lennon? Personally i think that as long as defenders don't allow him on the outside and force him to cut inside, then he just isn't that dangerous. It seems now that defenders get so tight on him that he doesn't get chance to run at them like he used to. And when he does they just make sure he has to cut inside which narrows things up and gives him little space to work in.

I think for this game, (and our next 4 or 5 games to be honest) the result was far more important than the performance. Yes we were pretty poor throughout, but we won, and kept a clean sheet. We've played better and lost this season, and nobody wants that.

You can see changes in the way the team plays, but it's not going to happen overnight. For example, today was the second time I've seen Dawson be a near post flick on man from corners since Ramos arrived, rather than coming from deep as he used to. Berbs looks like he has a bit of fire in his gut, albeit sporadically, but he's improving. Lennon's match fitness is starting to show promise (I actually think he put a couple of good balls in today, but he can be one dimensional), Robbo gets a clean sheet, jenas delivered a decent free kick :)omg:) , Keane's on a good run, Boateng looks like he could do very well under Ramos, Stalteri looked pretty solid, Malbranque is starting to get the credit he deserves and can still improve, and we still have Bale & Ledley to come back.

Lots of positives to take, despite the performance.

I also think the one thing the commentators got right tonight, is that after the guy was sent off, Ramos decided to experiment a bit with his subs and our play, which is why I think it petered out, but I'm sure he learnt stuff from it too.

Bring on Wigan!

Oh, and the look of relief on Berbs face after he scored was palpable!
