Further to my previous thread: ( http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=21280 )
Here are some up to date facts regarding Hapoel:

1. We are bottom of the League.

2. The fans (mainly the ultras) are boycooting the spurs game due to the high ticket prices.

3. next sunday there is the derby much against maccabi (who are one place above us at the bottom of the league).

4. evreyone consideres the game agains spurs as a pain in the ...

5. the players and the fans moral is very very low.

most importent for those who are comming : enjoy your stay in Tel aviv - being your summer clothes ....

I'm looking forward to my first trip to see Spurs play away in Europe (even though Israel is actually in Asia). Hopefully, a win and a chance to pick up a bit of a tan. Anyone else making the trip?

They also compete in the UEFA cup. Neither of which means they're in Europe. Geographically speaking anything south of the middle of turkey is asian. Not sure where Cyprus fits in with that being an island

I thought 'ultras' generally meant a bunch of hardcore fans with extremist right-wing tendencies. Slightly odd that you have ultras in Israel then...

Half of Turkey is also in Asia. WHY CANT THEY MAKE UP THEIR MINDS!?

Would you rather have an Israeli team with an away match in Tehran? I think that their decision is pretty well made.

Plus you know the Turks (or at least the government) fancies itself as European.

And why not pick on Russia for that matter?

In fact MOST of Turkey is in Asia Minor except for that small area west of the Bosphorous. In Russia, the Urals are the dividing line between Europe and Asia. Not sure what would happen if a team from eastern Russia qualified for Europe - Vladivostok is about 11 time zones away from western Europe. Israel is definitely in Asia (the Red Sea is the border between Asia and Africa) - if we lose on Thursday, we should object to their participation. In response to an earlier post, the Mediterranean/Aegean islands including Cyprus are in Europe. Here endeth the geography lesson.
