A year ago he went to Orient and did pretty well as a 17 year old making 9 starts and 9 off the bench scoring 5 goals.

This season after 3 starts and 3 sub appearances in Europa League scoring 1 goal he went to Millwall in January. He's made 15 starts and 3 sub appearances in the Championship scoring 5 goals - in many of his early appearances he played as a central midfielder or left winger. Since starting as a striker with Keogh (ex Wolves) in a 442 he has had this run of 5 goals in 10 appearances (nb also played 5 games in FA Cup scoring 2 goals and 5 goals in 8 appearances for England under 19's).

He's now 18 and has done well, but imo needs to play more games. Love to see him involved pre-season with first team games but probably next season another half season in the Championship followed if possible by a half season with a Premiership side )ala Walker) - think he might struggle to immediately jump into Premiership, but if he did well in pre-season.....maybe

Think a lot of people ruled this kid out far too soon in his career based on 3 starts in the Europa League, 2 of which I actually thought he impressed in. Hopefully he makes them eat their words.

Granted this is only based on highlights, but he is developing very well. I think he has found his feet in the championship - Premiership next season might be a touch too far too soon - but he is looking a very good prospect for the future.

Speaking of the future, for someone like Kane (or Caulker, Townsend, even the likes of Pritchard and Coullibaly) the manager situation next season is going to be key. A new man might come in, ignore the youth players and only care about the first team. The young players could struggle or be sold, and we suffer an exodus of very good young talent. I'd really like our young players to be given more of a chance of the first team than we've seen over the last ten years

Related to Krafty's post though not to Kane - I would be worried about the same thing. However, I would also expect Levy to be pretty sure to make it clear to any new manager that our youth system is important and our young players should be given a fair crack of the whip - there is certainly talent there that we will want to make use of in the future.

Townsend is the stand-out prospect, particularly with the risk of Bale leaving in the summer should we not get CL football, but Kane, Button and Smith are all knocking on the door of the first team squad.

Spurs youngster enjoying first-team football on loan at Millwall
Source: Sky Sports

Millwall's loan star Harry Kane is determined to keep improving following a string of impressive performances since his move in January. The 18-year-old is one of the hottest young strikers outside the Premier League with his winner in Tuesday night's 1-0 victory at Portsmouth his fifth goal in his last 10 games. The England Under 19 international is highly rated at parent club Tottenham having made his breakthrough into the first team at White Hart Lane earlier this season during their Europa League campaign. However, Kane believes that the chance to play regular first-team football in the Championship has helped him take his game to the next level. Sharp "I didn't know what to expect when I came here, but it is a great club with great fans and everyone at the club has been very supportive since I came down," Kane told Sky Sports. "There is a good side here and I firmly believe that we can push on and finish the season strongly. "I feel good, sharp and fit, which is what I wanted to prove when I joined Millwall because when I first came here I wasn't as sharp as I'd have liked to be. "The chance to play regular football has given me that platform and now I feel that I can score every time I get onto the pitch. "It is obviously the next step up from League One, where I played for Leyton Orient last season, and it is a lot more physical in the Championship. "I've had to adapt my game and make sure that I can win a lot more balls in the air, which I feel that I have done. "It is a great learning curve to take back to Spurs and I feel that my game has developed a lot since coming to Millwall.

My guess is that youngesters coming through the Academy (plus a few youngsters like Walker and Naughton picked up young) are a vital part of Levy's business plan - we cannot necessarily fill every position with players we can afford to buy but if we had one player a season coming through the academy into the first tram it would make a huge difference after a few years. Granted we have not done that, but the target would be to be like Barca - probably 75% of their team came through the academy. Players who are not quite good enough for Spurs could be sold on to fund the academy (say £3m pa). If you look at the players coming through the Academy, the target of one per year into the first team does not look impossible, starting with Caulker but also with the likes of Kane, Button, Smith Townsend and Carroll being obvious prospects over the next year or two.

The success of our youth team in the Nextgen also bodes well. Players like Veljkovic, Gomelt, Pritchard, Coulibaly have been getting good reviews.

Yup, these are also some of the guys who might get into first team contention - but imo more likely in say 2 or 3 years time rather than next season, and that's puely because of their age now. There are quite a few who might be added to that list and one or two might drop out.

Of that list, Veljkovic is only 16 but played in some of Spurs first team pre -season games this season and hopefully will also figure in next season's pre-season as he plays as if he is 10 years older, and could be joined by his NextGen CB partner Stewart : we have a gap in the conveyor belt of young CB's so those guys are welll positioned to stake a claim

Would rather we loan him out again to a prem team is possible. He's not going to get any games for us, yet.

Another Championship loan first half of next season imo. Don't want him sitting it out at a Prem team not getting game time. Suppose Reading might be a good opportunity for him?

Disagree I rather him be a second choice striker and be a option for team and come off the bench than go to a championship team again and do the same thing again in january

I cant remember too many championship strikers go straight in to a team when signed to a prem club unless its been a promoted club

Depends whether we think he has 100% proved himself at Championship level I suppose.

his next loan move should be top end Championship

I'd of course like to see him tested at PL level but I think sometimes its better for confidence and development of the youngsters to be playing in a team that wins more than it loses, especially as a striker he's more likely to get chances and goals in a team pushing for promotion rather than a team fighting relegation.

If he continues to impress at that level then he would be wanted at PL level or even push for a place with us, its in his own hands as he already has the platform to showcase his talent so its up to him to produce and progress
