Although another loan would probably be good for him after how well he's done, is it worth considering having him in the squad next year? He's young enough that he could be 4th striker without counting towards the 25-man limit.

At this stage it's probably still one season too soon, is my gut feeling, but if he's really tearing it up perhaps in January...

He'll captain England one day. Not for quite a few years, but eventually he will.

I've thought that for a couple of years and I still do. He has something about him to be an amazing classic CF.

Kenny Jackett wants to bring Harry Kane back to Millwall next season but the striker has his sights set on breaking into Tottenham's team.
Kane has just completed a successful loan spell in south London, scoring nine goals in 24 starts to help the Lions steer clear of the relegation zone.
But the 18-year-old told Sky Sports: "I will go into pre-season with the hope and aim of playing first-team football for Spurs and if I can get a good pre-season under my belt then who knows what can happen next year.
"Hopefully it will lead to a few Premier League appearances and from there it is up to me to score goals and show what I can do."

Maybe ambitious, but certainly a good plan to see what he can do in pre-season (eg on the Spurs US tour in July) - he surprised me in making the jump from a loan in League 1 to an even more successful loan in the Championship....so I look forward to being surprised again.

I imagine that they will now do with Kane, the same thing they have done with Walker and Caulker to great effect. Loan him for a year in the top flight and see if that horse can run. It's actually a very good system.

All for that. It'd be a good move for his development IMO. They've got a great coaching set-up, play decent football, and it would give him EPL experience without us having to bear the risk.

I'd hope 6 months only at first though. He may be ready to start contributing at the Lane after the break.

Would he get many games at Southampton though? Lambert will be first choice, they spent a lot of money on Sharp in January, if they go for one up and one behind they have Lallana, also De Ridder, that Brazilian guy, is Barnard still there? That's a lot of people to beat to a starting spot, which is why I'm surprised Saints are interested at all.

Barnard's not seen as part of their future, has slipped way down the pecking order. Lambert will start of course. Ridder is seen as an impact sub. Lallana's a shoe-in, but I'd not be surprised to see him at AM rather than up front. Sharp (who was only £1.8m, so not quite the big investment you imply) is still seen as a bit of an unknown quantity despite scoring regularly.

I think they'll go 4-4-2 in the Prem. So if Kane goes to St Mary's, I'd expect to see him competing with Sharp for the job of second striker alongside Lambert. Lallana will be the attacking force in midfield, and I'm afraid Barnard will likely find himself on the front pages for drunk driving and fighting rather than in the sports section...

Yes as Falque discovered, not an easy team to break into.

Barney is under contract at Saints for at least another season, but has not featured much due to injury and a brush with the law.

I'd be surprised if they go with two strikers and Lallana too often, and I think Kane operates better off a front man, and he and Lallana might get into each others way. Maybe I'm wrong, and I don't know exactly what I would do with Kane next season, I just feel he isn't quite ready to play in the Premiership on a weekly basis. He should either get a full season of good level championship football under his belt, or stay with us.

Yeah, I may be forcing a bit of optimism because I like the lad's style tbh.

I guess I can see it working at St Mary's, but it would probably take a bit of luck and an injury to a team-mate for him to get the best from it.

It's a difficult one. He needs a Walker/Caulker/Naughton experience. But the big difference is that they're all defenders. Teams will take a punt on a talented young defender, in the knowledge that they have three more experienced members of the back four (plus the mid) to cover them when they get it wrong. Strikers are less involved, and have to get it right when they get the opportunity. If they spoon it over the bar then no matter how good their team-mates are they can't retrieve the situation.

I reckon he will prob be used as an impact sub there. But he should be given the opportunity to show he can make it at that level. So I am for such a move

I hope not. As has been observed before, he's a Teddy-style striker - and I don't think that style of player works well as an impact player off the bench.

Did quite well for Orient in that role. And Teddy was a brilliant impact sub for both Man utd and England. Just because a player doesn't have blistering pace does not mean they cannot be a successful impact player.

Good points. Mmm - maybe. I have high hopes for Harry, so I really do hope he prospers anyway.

I hope the kids do well. Not sure they have the quality for Spurs but maybe find a good championship club.
