Think there's much more to it than just the players ability.

Messi is 31 in a couple of weeks, perhaps has another 4 - 5 years in the game, but how many at his current level?

Ronaldo is 33, not going to get any better & may even already be thinking about when to call it a day.

Harry Kane has matched their exploits for the last 3 seasons, but is only 24 years of age & will almost certainly continue to improve (because that's just the way he is driven).

That is why Kane is now the world's most valuable footballer.
