First time I saw HK play was a friendly in Monaco in 2013, Falcao battered us.

Defoe dropped out last minute & Kane started. I was so impressed with him I put him in my fantasy team & sung his praises to high heaven - but AVB in his wisdom hardly played him that season although our striker situation was dire

I did know he was going to be a big deal then though, he was outstanding that afternoon (5-1 loss notwithstanding )

Well a fellow striker should know - especially a WC winner like Llorente...

“I think he's awesome, one of the best strikers in the world, if not to say the best,” said Llorente. “In front of goal, he's lethal. The truth is he is in a sweet moment, and we have to make the best of that. He gives us so much. He's an extremely complete player, he doesn't just score. In every aspect, he's very complete.

That idiot Marsh has a crystal ball that says RM will offer £300m during next summers World Cup. At what level do we deal?

£220m plus Bale with them picking up 50% of Bale's wages? Oh and we pick up someone like Aubeyang for £85m in the meantime.

There is a figure - even if only fantasy.

*Just thinking and not suggesting by the way.

I reckon he'd score more than 1 a game with the embarrassment of riches in creative players to support him at Real.

He will be a one club man though, despite these hating hasbeens (Neville, etc). Club legend in the making.

After tomorrow he could well be on a goal a game or more for this season with Spurs....here's hoping.

I wouldn't take that to be honest.

Aubameyang is 28. He is a classy player and would do well in the Prem but I'd take Kane over an injury prone Bale and soon to be past his prime Aubameyang.

I really wouldn't be selling Kane to any one. He'll be worth way more to us staying in the team and seeing his contract out than any money we would get and reinvest.

Don't sell at any price, selling Kane is like selling your soul to the devil.

Alan Shearer, MLTissier, Gary Lineker (in England).
Certainly the first two won one trophy between them, Gary I think was one FA CUP, though I might have that wrong in my head. The point being, all 3 were considered footballing legends within this country and partially beyond. Without really winning much if anything of note, or certainly not consistently.

The issue is, in the media fuelled era of modern football, you are only GREAT whilst winning thrings now. However, post career most look back fondly. Harry Kane is already hitting heights and frankly does NOT need to be winning the CL every season to be considered great. Those are great TEAMS, but individuals can be remembered differently.

I do think Spurs need to win something sooner rather than later, because the team as a whole needs and deserves it and it will obviously help us keep our best players, but looking forward, if HK stayed for 10years and was consistently Golden Boot winner and won 0 trophies, would he still not be great? Is he greater by being on at Real Madrid or Barcelona, and being a cog in a machine, perhaps not being golden boot winner and collecting his CL winners medal whilst on the bench?

Is Bale great by being at Real Madrid? I think he was better at Spurs personally. It has come to the point where people say you aren't great UNLESS you play for a particular club, a media behemoth. What's the betting that even if Harry Kane scores the Premier League winning goal and FA Cup final hat-trick, he will still not be "great" until the media forces his move to Real???

Surpassed Bale for me as the better player at Spurs and the best British player currently.

Not quite yet for me. Kane is good at holding the ball up, taking on his man and creating shooting opportunities, but there are still some games where if Eriksen, Alli, Son and co fail to perform and give him the service then he can look isolated. Bale would win us matches out of absolutely nothing. I think if we'd had Kane now instead of Bale back in AVB's 2012-13 side and he was having to rely on service from Holtby, Dempsey and Parker instead of what we have now then I think we'd have ended up around 7th in the league, perhaps even lower.

In my eyes he's surpassed Berbatov, Klinsmann and Sheringham as our best CF in my lifetime (I was only 5 when Lineker left). You can make solid arguments for Lukaku and Aguero but I'd still rank him as the top PL striker at this moment in time too. However I'd say he has to have a strong Champions League campaign to genuinely be rated as highly as Lewandowski, Griezmann, Aubemeyang etc, but after Wednesday night there's every reason to believe that this could well be the season for that.

Yes but you're how many strikers can win games by themselves compared to forwards, forwards like Bale have/had the ability to pick up the ball pretty much anywhere on the pitch, where as Kane or strikers mainly operate in less positions and are more tightly marked so the comparison is unfair.

Still needs to do it in the Carabao Cup before he can be considered world class, tbh.

I get what you're saying - but some strikers still manage to do it. Players like Drogba and Henry would a lot, and of course Messi (not to say that not being Messi is any sort of criticism). Even Bale was pretty much playing as a CF in his final half season with us anyway.

Can you imagine Kane with Bale's pace?!?

Can't add a lot to the superlatives really.

One thing though that hasn't been mentioned is that both the goals he scored against Dortmund were with his weaker foot.

He's so proficient now in his all round game that you barely notice stuff like that.

Wouldnt really call Messi or arguably Henry as strikers more free roaming forwards but you're right about Drogba.

Disagree. Players are ultimately judged by what they have won. I want Harry to win PL/CL with us but unless he gets trophies he isn't going to enter the history books.

I think the thing that makes him stand out is his attitude. After scoring his 100th, he wasn't basking in his own glory, he was saying "Now I want 200!"

Absolute class act, both on and off the field.
