I'd prefer Gibson personally as a left-footer.

Shame Wimmer has fallen from grace a bit as ideally we'd just stick with him and save ourselves the money but something didn't seem right with him this season.

£22m???? That is a massive amount of money for a player with no international or European competition experience from a team that got relegated.

I can see the reasoning for going for someone like him (can dribble and good at aerial clearances plus can cover Alderweireld while Wimmer covers Vertonghen) and if it was sub £10m (or even better similar price to Trippier) I think it would be fine but at £22m seems very high.

£22m Hull maybe trying to get their own back on us for all the players we sold them for top prices?

He never really had a run of games, and in what he did play most probably knocked his confidence

I've seen £15m mentioned for Maguire and that seems realistic to me. £22m is clearly too much.

i really don't see anything in this player, and from the little I've read he wants 1st team football

he will only get enough game time if 1, of the Toby, Jan or Eric get injured, or if we progress in all cups

Buying him doesnt even make any sense if it is to replace Wimmer. Poch doesnt like to use 2 same footed CB's in a partnership unless he is forced to out of poor performances. We have Toby, CCV and Dier who all right footed. If we are selling Wimmer, we should be replacing him with another left footed CB who can slot in for Jan if he gets hurt.

Hull supporter at work says that Maguire is very overrated and a total motd highlights player.

I wouldn't be so confident about how important the footed-ness of a centre-back is.

I wouldn't be so confident about how important the footed-ness of a centre-back is.

It's important for Poch. When we play 3 at the back, the outer 2 centre backs go wide and act as makeshift fullbacks. Even when we play 4-2-3-1, we often have Dier drop back from midfield as a half back and the centre backs split to go wider.

not sure what the hype is re Maguire.. seen him a few times and have family in hull who watch him every week, say he is very average, could develop into a player under poch but very underwhelming signing for me if we pay anything north of 10million for him... Gibson or veltman the better option

the only thing I've noticed about Maguire is he is handy getting on the end of set pieces.

no way would Gibson come to us, he wants to play in the premier league, not sit on the bench watch Jan.

I was gonna watch this thread because it seemed like a purchase we'd make, but I won't because I don't see it coming off

Too expensive and honestly we probably don't want.

Sky saying Hull have received a bid from a club and he is close to leaving. Wouldn't be at all surprised if that club is us.
