Harry Redknapp's claims that Tottenham players tried to get out of playing for England are "grenades" which are not helping the national team's cause after their World Cup heartbreak.

i saw that redknapp would not name players as it would be unfair
but he is quite happy to allow the press to slur every spurs player
when everyone with a brain knows these statements are all part of his planned revenge on spurs for having the cheek to sack him
this man is a slimy;odious;back stabbing ;self serving creep

Agreed. There have been plenty of occasions when the so-called "big clubs" have seemingly encouraged key players to duck unimportant midweek international friendlies in order to ensure their fitness for the following weekend, but HR has created the distorted impression that in some way, some individual, anonymous, Spurs players should be scape-goated.

Harry talks, the media listen.........said media fall for his retorts........ignore the man.
It's probably Darren Bent he is talking about......his wife would have played for England.

The shot is not just at Spurs it is at the FA as well because they did not appoint him as England manager.

A lot of support for Redknapp in the comments under that article. Maybe, just maybe he's telling the truth. I don't think he has any agenda against Spurs. He cares about the national team and understands things are only going to get better when we stop being in denial about what the problems are, like the FA, Roy Hodgson, Gerard and the majority of the current England squad.

Harry Redknapp is responsible for us getting knocked out of the World Cup.

And the War in the Middle East.

Not "every spurs player" is eligible for the English team. Though after this WC fiasco perhaps they should be allowed to be.

As for this being Redknapp's "revenge" i think your wide of the mark on that conspiracy theory.

Whilst I do think he cares about England, I'm not sure his supposed actions of helping English players get out of international duty are particularly helpful either.

Maybe he should care more about the players he expects to perform for him then. I could never trust such a man who I would see as a self promotionist, willing to walk over peoples feeling to get what he wants.

...where has this been said anywhere? You're the first person to say this anywhere on the internet. It kinda undermines your entire point.

It was his mouth that got Harry the sack at Spurs and he still cannot shut up. It is cowardly to make such a slur without naming names. I am sure that players will not be queueing up to play for him after this demonstration of loyalty. Harry is a publicity junkie who cares about one thing and that is Harry. Gerrard and Roy are highlighting the claims because they want somebody else to carry the can for England's failure. No wonder the England team are such a mess.

Gerrard:
2013 mar England Vs Denmark Played 90 mins OK
2013 Nov England Vs Germany played 56 mins
2013 Nov England Vs Chile injured (played for liverpool before and after)
2013 Aug England Vs Scotland played 62 mins

These are the last few full international friendly games, yet it seems Gerrard has a little deal going with Hodgson so he rarely plays for 90 mins.

So I'll name a player who regularly withdraws from England duty.
I'll name a player who seemingly 'lacks commitment and effort'.
I'll name a player who perhaps 'lacks interest and wants to go home'/back to his club.

Is it 'disgusting' that Gerrard - England Captain - perhaps is not so committed to meaningless friendlies during the season?
He seems to think so, but I'm not so sure, and certainly if a player has an important event like a birth to attend, then it seems more than reasonable that he would want to drop out.
