Tottenham midfielder, Harry Winks, could be set for surgery and a lengthy spell on the side lines to compound a miserable 2022.

It says that Winks is considering surgery. Surely the club(s) that pay him millions have a say in that when he's sat on the sidelines for months. That ankle injury has really wrecked Winks assuming it's a continuation of the same problem.

They can provide him with medical advice and access to top consultants but it'll still be his choice, especially if it's something that isn't 100% essential, because surgery always carries a certain level of risk.

It has certainly ruined him. The moment he came back from that injury he was playing at 80% intensity with a certain fear every time he went in for a tackle.

That change in intensity is the difference between a Top 4 level CM and a bottom half of table CM

Am pretty sure the club forcing him to have surgery against his will is illegal

From Winks position I'd have thought he'd be better off getting the surgery done. He'll be out of contract soon enough and needs to get sorted before he ends up on the scrap heap. Better to get that done while he still has club medical and rehab facilities for free I'd have thought. I'd be very surprised if he's not back with us in January given the situation and he won't get another loan if he's injured and Conte doesn't want him either. Seems an ideal opportunity to get fixed.
