Def think winks has to start, Dier a long side him? Amazing how we lack center half’s these days.

This shows that one doesn't need to play talent in the 1st team immediately when they show some talent at an early age. Poch was patient in bringing in Winks, nurturing him slowly into the 1st team.
So, have trust in Pochettino regarding other academy stand outs: I am sure Poch knows when it's best to bring them into the 1st team.
PS! I read on Spursodssey quite some non-flattering stuff about Edwards, from people "knew" him.

Sterling has never been anything like Eriksen...he is a slightly better Townsend

He never had the intelligence to dictate play but he had the quick feet and could pick a short pass. Was just hoping he gain the intelligence.

They are different players: Sterling is a wide forward while Eriksen is a playmaker.
Sterling looked like a world beater when he came onto the scene but I think his attitude, together with injuries, have let him down.

That's what i meant. When he was at liverpool it looked like he could become an eriksen but he didn't. It's partly why city paid so much for him.

Think I'd put emotion to one side and use Walker more than Trips.
Southgate a fucking useless wet blanket though so we'll go out with a wimper in the group stage anyway.

Should have a very strong and well balanced team there, no reason they shouldn't do very well if they can get over the mental block at tournaments

To be honest, I prefer the way we play with two up top at Spurs and given that Barkley will be playing at CM for us soon (hopefully) - the England team could easily have 7 Spurs players in the first 11!

Hart
Stones Dier Cahill
Trippier Barkley Winks Alli Rose
Kane Rashford

I'm not sure. Southgate strikes me as the most intelligent england manager in my lifetime. He may be somewhat monotone and soft, but intelligence will carry you a long way in life.

I'd rather we kept the level of expectation down. The boy's been outstanding, especially in the 2 games against RM, but he's learning & needs to be given the opportunity to just keep doing what he's doing, learning/developing, without the pressure of us saying he's going to be this or that.

The truth is we won't know what he is for at least 2 season or so, but if he continues as he is we could have a very good player on our hands.
