As a Spurs fan living in Northampton, he certainly isn't forgotten here. Northampton's Sixfields stadium is built on Walter Tull Way. I'm very proud that he represented our club at what must have been an incredibly difficult time to be a black player.

Got to love the press from over 100 years ago:

"a section of the spectators made a cowardly attack on him in language lower than Billingsgate".

Have to hate the fact our press was more critical of racial abuse 100 years ago than most european press and uefa is today.

It’s extraordinary that he voluntareed to defend his country despite that meaning he was defending so many disgusting-minded dimwits who jeered him for being black.

Big respect.

I'm so glad to see that Walter Tull has been remembered, and by so many.
I wanted to write something about him, but for the last month I've failed to conjure any suitable ones that i felt befitted him.
If someone ever needs a role model this man surely is a measure of such things.
A great man who should be honoured fittingly not just for his deeds but also for his legacy.

I was thinking of Walter Tull when I read about Cyrille Regis getting racial abuse from Spurs fans. The even greater irony was that he grew up a Spurs fan.
