I'm betting we're just waiting to see if he can put in a 90 minute shift yet.

A few chances to see that coming up - if he is fit enough !

4/1/15 Espanyol v Eibar ( League)
7/1/15 Valencia v Espanyol (Cope del Rey)
10/1/15 Real Madrid v Espanyol (League)

So if he's not played in the next week with 3 fixtures.....

I think he's worth grabbing anyway if he's already back to walking. I'm much more amenable to bone breaks rather than ligamental damage, as bone has immensely better regenerative properties. It seems this guy knows Poch and his system well, and we can afford to allow him to continue to heal and regain fitness considering we'd still have Kaboul and Dier to provide backup.

Poch probably has 100 contacts inside Espanyol. I'm sure we've been watching him closely and know exactly how fit he is and if he's making a full recovery.

FYI he has played a few games since returning from injury in November, including a full 90 minute match...

02/12 vs Derportivo Alavez: 74mins
07/12 vs Barcelona: 40mins (sub)
17/12 vs Deportivo Alavez: 90mins

It's understandable that you wouldn't start a guy coming back from that sort of injury after the Christmas rest period, so they are clearly easing him back.

He's definitely walking though!

Arsenal looking at him now as well apparently.

@F365: Gossip: Sunderland to pay Defoe £80,000 a week, Lavezzi to Liverpool for just £8m, Arsenal eye Mexico defender Moreno http://t.co/51YCho9ogz

I wouldn't be too worried about it, we've been tracking him for some time, I'm sure we would have bought him in the summer if it hadn't have been for the injury, and he has the in-built relationship with Poch. I'd be surprised if we didn't get him IF we elect to try and finalise a deal. Arsenal are the more attractive club to players, yes, but there are some situations where that club can lose out because the other one wanted the player more and have put in a ton more leg work. Just a guess of course, but thats my feeling.
