Tottenham have opened talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports Izvestia.
The Armenia international has been in scintillating form this season and has in turn seen some of Europe’s top clubs line up for his services.
Mkhitaryan recently revealed that he would do everything in his power to leave Shakhtar at the end of the current campaign, and Tottenham seem to have taken notice.
According to Izvestia, Spurs have already established initial contacts with the Ukranian club with a view of luring the attacking midfielder to White Hart Lane.
The 24-year-old has a contract until June 2015 at Shakhtar, so the summer transfer window could be the right time for the Ukranians to cash in on their prized asset.
Despite not playing in attack, Mkhitaryan has been scoring goals for fun this season, netting 19 times in 20 league fixtures, while adding another 2 goals in 8 Champions League appearances.

Never heard of him, but a quick google says he's got a good scoring rate whereever he's been.
Armenian and Shaktar player of the year at times so looks to be a good prospect.

From CL games he looks great. Puts in a shift, in the right place a lot of the time, eye for a pass and got a fierce shot on him. Basically a ready made VDV replacement, but fitter, which is what we've missed this season arguably.

ALL THE AMs ARE BELONG TO US!

Mkhitaryan is quite awesome, though. Always a stand out performer, and he has been playing deeper this season.

10 points to any English commentator who gets his name right (should he join of course) ;)
2 years left of his contract, and's been one of their main stars for 2 seasons now. He certainly won't come cheap and, in case Levy think he can drive home a bargain, forget it....they won't budge a cent on their asking price.

There are some teams that there's no point in us trying to buy stars from these and porto the main 2 as they don't fit our buying policy i. e. We're only interested if we can get them under market value.

At times I think we don't look at what the team needs but look for bargains then build a team out of them, dempsey and pienaar seem perfect examples
of this

Arguably these two don't fit the recruitment policy at Tottenham on the whole - you know buy young at a low price, sell high. Somehow wangled a profit out of Pienaar, and Van Der Vaart, which is incredible really as they both don't have too many years left in the tank. Levy plays the market incredibly well. Got to be looking at clubs who are under financial constraint in one way or another...that being said, would love to snag a couple of players from Porto and Shakhtar.

Maybe the Fifa Fair Play will make them look at transfer dealings in a new light, There are some signs Clubs are starting to look at this now.

Good player. Not sure about
a) where he would fit in, a lot of AMC's already.
b) whether he would be in our price range.

Imo our buying policy seems to be less youngsters and more players running out of contact these days. We didn't need pienaar, when we had Bale and kranjcar but he was cheap and fairly easy to make a profit on
