I can't believe this, it would make this deal stupid.

I don't remember this being an issue with Y.P.Lee

There is always an out in these kind of things.

Lee was granted special dispensation due to his performance in the World Cup (or Olympics, i forget which). I can see something similar happening here.

It's very striking that Son is forsaking a season in the Champions League in order to join us, join the EPL and move to London. It would be idle to speculate on the relative magnitude of those three considerations...

I've never seen him play, but his reputation precedes him and we have now properly addressed the need for more pace in our attack.

I'm delighted. I know very little about him apart from the obvious clips we all see. But, he looks quick, direct, has an eye for goal and steely determination and ambition. I also think (guessing) he could be a perfect partner for Kane - more developed than Berahino.
I am a little bit excited.

Are you suggesting we might be a stepping stone to Chelsea?

We are delighted to announce the signing of Heung-Min Son from Bayer Leverkusen, subject to work permit and international clearance.

He will wear the number 7 shirt with ‘Son’ on his back.

May become the best No.7 we've had for a long, long time.

The Koreans are very proud of their work ethics. You can be sure that he'll run until he drops.

I agree, N'jie and especially Son will cover marathons per game, both are hard workers off the ball too.

My word we have truly added some and more blistering pace and power going forward.

A great signing- from all angles.
His German team mates are gutted he's left and can't work out why he's gone to us- the mighty Spurs

Here's another thing that is suggested by the timing of this signing: confirmation that we are always simultaneously pursuing multiple targets for each position - that Levy/Baldini and their predecessors never, to use the usual moan/cliché, "put all their eggs in one basket" until it is too late.

I find it hard to believe that we would have concluded this deal before the rather blunt and public rejection of our second, staged offer for Berahino. It appears that, at that point, having taken care to keep this negotiation ticking over, we gave up on West Brom and moved decisively and rapidly to conclude a deal for Son.

It also gives us some hints about priorities, following our experience with 7 signings none of whom had prior experience of English football. It seems that we were more interested in Berahino than Son. Was that because he has already shown that he can cope with the EPL? Then, when we could not deliver that, we signed a player from the league most similar to ours.

Seems that way to me.

Are you saying that it was a case of Berahino or Son?

ITK have suggested that wasn't the case.

I haven't seen that ITK. That's what I was suggesting, yes. Just based on the timing. We aren't going to be signing 3 strikers, are we: N'jie, Son and Berahino?

I've been off to watch some clips.

Yup, he's quick all right - and it seems to be both acceleration and sustained speed, which is potentially very exciting.

He's 6'-1" and he never uses his head. Not once that I saw.

He has the ability to strike the ball hard when he's at full tilt - contrast with Lennon.

He's quite selfish. There were several strikes, both on and off target, when he might have done a lay-off or a through ball.

And another, more general thought: I'm not expecting Son and N'jie to go straight into the starting line-up. Perhaps only one of them on the bench for a few weeks. I expect we'll have a lot of moaning here about that, but I don't think it's Pochettino's way.
