Spurs boss Martin Jol will be busy this month as he wants to sign Anton Ferdinand, Ashley Young, Darren Bent, Curtis Davies and Djibril Cisse.

Jol has been searching for a new centre-back for months and although West Ham insist they will not sell Ferdinand until the summer, the Tottenham boss has not given up hope of landing the England Under-21 star before the January transfer window closes.
The Dutchman may even offer Paul Stalteri or Calum Davenport as part of a £7million deal, and also wants West Brom centre-back Davies as he aims to build a dynasty of young guns at White Hart Lane.
Albion are desperate to keep hold of Davies, though, and boss Tony Mowbray has slapped a £12million price tag on his head.
Davenport, meanwhile, could also be the makeweight in an attempt to lure Watford's Young to White Hart Lane for around £5million.
Hornets boss Adrian Boothroyd admitted on Saturday that an £8million offer was on the table from an unnamed club, with Spurs and Aston Villa the main suitors of the talented forward.
In attack, Jol is prepared to offload Mido and let Robbie Keane join Celtic on loan if he manages to prise Bent from Charlton and secure French striker Cisse, who has scored four goals in his last five games at Marseille since recovering from a broken leg.
Cisse is still a Liverpool player having only been sent out on loan but Reds boss Rafa Benitez is aiming to sell him permanently in January.

    cisse????? i smell BS

This is the first I've hear of Cisse for some time. We were supposed to be ready to swap Defos for him when he was at Liverpool, which was complete garbage. I can't see why we would want him. As for Ferdinand, I question whether he is good enough, and Davies would be ridiculously overpriced.

    This is just rehashed cack.
  4. jackhealy
By the way, Jol was quite explicit about not wanting Bent, and Ashley Young is not worth the money or the players we would exchange for him.

I'm not really sure all of that is necessary, all I'd really like to push through is a deal for Young and a deal for Davies. I can live with losing Davenport as even though he is decent, I'm not sure he is good enough and Davies is certainly better and showed that when playin for Baggies in the prem. If Keane had to join Celtic then I wouldn't be too unhappy esp if Bent came in place but doubt that we'll sign Cisse and release Mido, seems far fetched to me.

Although this is a 'transitional season' (like every fucking season it seems) there are some players in the squad that don't make the grade.

Lee is Premiership standard but not 'top 4' standard. He did put in one decent cross yesterday though which was a first!

Tainio had a bad game. His versatility makes him a good squad player but when he's up against quality he goes missing.

Hudd was none existent yesterday. Suppose it will happen from time to time whilst he's learning his trade.

We have NO cover for Ledley or Dawson. Davenport and Gardner are jittery, nervous and not good enough.

Berbatov is far too static. Great on the ball but lazy as sin off it. I was watching him at the game yesterday for a while and Jol needs to stick a rocket up his....

Robbo's having a bad patch of form. Nout he could do for the second but he doesn't seem as confident as last season. His kicking yesterday was awful.

After all that I still don't know how we managed to lose that game :bang: . Newcastle were average and we blew it.

Cisse? mmm i dont know what to think about that one.

    In
    Ferdinand - yes good buy
Matt Taylor - yes good buy
Bale - not sure has not played premiership football
Young - no not any better then what we Routledge
Routledge - yes can play on the right or left (back from Fulham)

    Out
Keane - no do not let him go
Lee - no good backup can play in midfield or rightback and has played left back as well
stalteri - yes not good enough
Tanio - yes not good enough always injured and makes big mistakes like the Butt goal for Newcastle yesterday.

    any more?

    In
    Ferdinand
    Taylor
    Barry
    Silvestre
    SWP
    Bent
    Barnes
    Baines
    Davies
    Chris Brunt ( Sheff Weds)

    Out
    Stalteri
    LYP
    Ifil
    Ekotto
    Tainio
    Davids
    Mido
    Routledge
    Davenport
    Gardner

These 10 players that are listed for out will definately not get us to the next level and are defently not top4 material. There is alot more quality players out there for us to buy.
  10. infamousyiddo
in - silvestre??????????? thats gotta be a joke innit.

matty taylor - ok hits a wonder goal from time to time but he is not good enough.

SWP - and play him where exactly????

agree with all your outs apart from routledge, needs to be given a fair chance, and mido, good striker IMO

The media Rail Gun approach.....'I can't see, but I'll hit something'.
  12. jetrb3
Tell me ur opinion of LYP and EKotto vs Silvestre and Matt Taylor, who are the better 2?

    Mido vs Bent?

Ghaly, Tainio, Routledge, Davids vs SWP?

SWP could be used as rotating with Lennon then we would have 2 gun players for right wing or would you prefer Tainio or Ghaly?

SWP could be given a go in the middle with Hudd or Zokora as he has pace and can dribble.

Some of you really live in a dream world.
  14. jetrb3
I know what you mean, the people who think this squad is good enough to challenge for top 4 are dreaming.
  15. floppy
Jetrb3, i'd say your being slightly niave here....

Ekotto is inexperienced but hopefully could become good i think LYP is playing well. silvestre is getting old and will soon be past it (totally against our policy) Matt taylor is more useful in midfield.

Bent is much better than Mido

You cannot compare central midfielders with wingers? do you think a midfield of Robben, SWP, Lennon and C Ronaldo would work? not much passing or defensive duty within that lot!!

I don't think SWP likes the rotation system at Chelsea so why would he like it at spurs and is it not obvious he is at his best when playing regularly not sporadically rotating with lennon??

    in response to jetrb3

silvestre is not the player he used to far to prone to mistakes, makes rash challenges in silly area i.e penalty box. as said before matty taylor can score a wonder goal or two but dont think he is any better than what we have. Ekotto is 22 years old coming from france to play in the toughest league in the world give him time. lee.....ok sometimes makes silly mistakes but overall has done ok since he has been with us.

SWP would cost upwards of £10m, plus he would want to play week in week out. im not sayin he is not better than ghaly or tainio but to spend that kind of money on a squad player is silly.

bent is a better finisher than mido, but again would cost upwards of £10m and i dont think he would come to spurs to sit on the bench. Also BMJ has stated he will not bid for him. Mido can look lazy at times but he works hard IMO and has a good header, and links up well with keano (when they are paired together).

SWP in the middle.............MATE PLEASE lol.

you are talking about signing the club will not make because of the fees. im sure ronaldinho, messi, and eto'o would fit into our team as well, but like silvestre, SWP, and Bent...IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN
  17. infamousyiddo
Also I'd like to add that this squad is NOT good enough enough to challenge for the top four yet. we are still missing 2 or 3 players to achieve that, but neither was last seasons team. lets face it lads we punched above our weight last season hence why expectations are so high this.
  18. battspur
    Silvestre:rofl:
  19. AJ
That's absolutely ridiculous. 10 players out and 10 players in... The players you have mentioned would cost us over £50M. Having fun with Footy Manager, are you?
