To be perfectly honest I'm fucking sick of hearing about it.

The police fucked up. The stadium designers fucked up. The army of drunk and ticket-less Liverpool fans fucked up.

For some twisted reason the latter point has been glossed over (obviously nothing to do with the reaction to The Sun's bullshit).

I spent hours going through the released papers, and their fuckwit fans of the age clearly played their part in causing this tragedy.

If they had a shred of decency they'd feel ashamed. That's clearly a moral admittance beyond them...just ask Juve.

Again. The innocent people in this never deserved any of this. As this is football. But ALL sides should be taking blame for this. ALL sides.

The army of drunk and ticket-less Liverpool fans fucked up.

And yet the inquest ruling swept aside claims that fans were drunk!!

'The next question asked the jury whether supporters’ misbehaviour did or may have contributed to the dangerous situation outside the football ground. The forewoman replied that the jury, of six women and three men, had unanimously concluded that was not the case.

Well done to the families....They should be proud of themselves for fighting for the truth for 27 years....It could easily have been us..

You disgust me.

It's quasi racists like you that made innocent people seem like the reason this happened.

It has been PROVED to be incorrect.

Where is your mind.

I can't believe the highest points scorer on this website says its the scousers fault because of Hillsborough.

I just can't Believe it!.

Anyone looking at this website please don't believe it's not a normal Spurs fan belief. We back you.

'The army of drunk fans' is not our belief.

This all happened in the aftermath of the miners strike and South Yorkshire police were instrumental in breaking that strike. They had the art of falsifying evidence, planting stories in a willing press and full support of the Thatcher government. They felt untouchable and indeed were but for a few determined fans fighting against the full force of the establishment.. such a shame it has taken so long.

Great post, mate! Like you say, could so easily have been us - 1981 semi against Wolves - crushed in the little Leppings Lane end! Really pleased for the families in getting some form of justice, which was long overdue.

Drunk fans should be policed. If drink is a problem bring in prohibition and give the police the afternoon off. People didn't do their job that day and fans died. I wouldn't hang this on people who had a few beers and went to a football match. If that was the case most of SC would be guilty too.

And it's not even not doing their job. We all have a back day in the office, maybe even a sackable offence. But this is years of lies and cover ups to compound it. Measure that against having a few cans and getting boisterous and tell me blame should be shared.

I'm somewhat confused as to how/why emergency services were apportioned blame.
Likewise Sheffield Wednesday have now officially been blamed, because of poor upkeep of the stadium, yet the FA get off scot free, even though they selected Hillsborough for the semi-final venue.
I can't help but think that both of the above were judged against current day standards rather than what was around at the time.

With regards to fans being/not being to blame - they were climbing over walls outside, desperate to get into the stadium....

And this is far from the end of the case. Families will be after blood next. They will want criminal trials for anyone involved on the day.

This really goes to show the power of the press, and the power of slander. Unfortunately once this sort of narrative gets into the public consciousness there is no taking it back, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Even after yesterday's news you still peddle the drunk and ticket-less fans shite!!

It's incredible it really is...

The thing is I'm not even surprised, tribal mentality in football runs deep, even for otherwise smart people. Your post is profoundly depressing.

No, no they weren't. They were climbing over walls to get out of the crush already developing in Leppings Lane and those the did climb over were challenged by police inside the ground and one (only one) supporter was removed for not having a ticket.

An interesting read here that further highlights the lies and mistakes made on that day. Anyone who believes fans played their part in this tragedy (other than being the unwilling stooges) should have a read http://www.theguardian.com/football...and-lies-that-lasted-decades?CMP=share_btn_tw

A police constable, Andrew Eddison, who went into the pens to pull people out, said in his statement that “everybody had urinated themselves” and defecated, and that vomit swirled over the bodies and around his feet. There were two piles of bodies at the front, and Eddison said a hand at the bottom of one was pulling at his trouser leg. Once the bodies were finally cleared, it turned out to be a child.

David Lackey, a man trapped in pen three, recalled Thomas Howard, 39, a married father of three who worked in a chemicals factory, crushed next to him, saying repeatedly: “My son, my son.” Howard’s 14-year-old son, Tommy Jr, died with him.

Duckenfield admitted quite readily in court that as people were suffering this terror, he told his lie to Kelly. This fiction, that fans without tickets had forced the gate, had already found its way to the BBC, reported as a version by John Motson, the television match commentator, at 3.13pm. Alan Green, commentator for BBC Radio 2, broadcast an unconfirmed report of “a broken-down door” at 3.40pm, then at 4.30pm he reported that police had said “a gate was forced” – the police story of misbehaviour settling on the initial public consciousness.
