Amazing statistic, we have lost 33 points from winning positions this season. To put in context, if we had held on to leads we'd be on 79pts and ahead of the Scum. Let's say that's unrealistic, if we had just taken 50% of those points we'd be on 62pts and level in 5th with Everton. So that is the real difference between last year and this, we can't hold on to a lead and kill teams off. This is clearly what the Manures and Chelscums do well, when they get in front they very rarely fail to go on to win. This is what we need to do next season to get in to the CL places, learn to kill games off.

Is it a case of not taking the chances when infront, or letting goals in?

i would say so, even against Reading we couldnt take our chances, we were just lucky enough Reading were even worse infrount of goals and couldnt score!

Or is it because when we take the lead, half our team decides to take it a bit easier - maybe its just pure laziness!

It's a mix of both! If we scored a 2nd we would have held on to more winning positions, but then again if we kept more clean sheets we would have won a lot more games 1-0 (at least).

It's catch 22, go for the 2nd goal and we leave ourselves exposed at the back.
Sit back on a 1 goal lead and we still can't hold out!

Attack is the best form of defense... not when it comes to us!

agree its both, when we play well as yesterday we need to score again but we also need to learn the knack of shutting out the opposition for a 1-0 when we aren't on form and fizzing the ball about.

of course a lot of teams quite ooften hold on to leads by boring the oppo & fans to sleep - by continually fouling and frustrating -

we're not too good at that - which in ways is a shame but in ways quite commendable

but overall of cours we've been appalling at holding onto leads for a variety of reasons
