This guy has be treated badly by the club and passed around from pillar to post.He had a really good pre-season under his belt and instead of a deserved run in the team he his shipped out again whilst the likes from Lennon & Townsend are left for us to suffer with.
Like everyone else I feel huge sympathy for Holtby and really can't understand what it is that we're all apparently missing that has led the club to loan him out AGAIN.
He CLEARLY has a lot of ability and has great temperament and work rate so why is it that AVB and Poch both didn't rate the kid!?
I doubt we'll ever see him play regularly for Spurs again so really hope he finds a good home and proves a lot of people wrong.
The expression "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind.
Good but not great tackler, Good but not great passer, gets goals but not consistently, Great stamina and work rate but possibly to the detriment of his positional sense,
I think he needs to go to a club and say, "this is my position and this is where I want to develop."
I watched the Hannover v Hamburg match. The commentator was scathing of his performance. He was running around like a headless chicken. His positional sense was dreadful. Allegedly he isn't the best at following managerial instructions, which is probably why he hasn't flourished under any of the managers he has played for?
I've absolutely nothing against him, but I don't think he is quite good enough for Spurs. We have 11 midfielders according to the club website, which is more than enough even allowing for a Europa League run?
His career would be better served by playing for a smaller club and being a first choice player.
He certainly should have been kept until January at the least.
Many respected posters acted like kids when Sherwood sent Holtby on loan earlier this year, but now are strangely silent.
It's a funny old world.
Yes, he was, but a lot of the players around him were fast tracked into the first team, whilst he was left behind.
Nice guy and therefore a fan favourite, but just not that good.
I disagree that he hasn't been treated well, he told the club he wanted games, we can't guarantee them. At least we have granted him loans, instead of letting him rot away from the matchday squad.
There's got to be a reason why several managers have passed up on him. I think a lot of people are blinded by their like of him as a character without having the knowledge of what he's like to work with. There must be something he isn't doing right though. If Poch doesn't have faith in him then I have to raise questions because Poch isn't the unpatient type.
