Urrrgh, this was obviously going to happen but we need characters like him in the squad ffs!

He's also a much more useful squad player than Capoue, Stambouli etc.

Good luck Lewis!

Another star at U21 level that sadly wasn't good enough to play with the big boys.

It's all gone very quiet on the TC front!!!

He gave us a nod and wink after Huntellar had given the game away on the bus at the airport after Schalke had played a game if I remember correctly.
A jack of all trades yet master or none. Couldn't carry him really.
Good luck at Hamburg Lewis, and hope you get on with the fans there after your recent heated debate with them.

Would love to know what went on behind the scenes with Holtby. Still seems a really strange one, as nothing outwardly ever seemed to go wrong. He played fine, came across well and then was on the black list.

Think it was more a case of him not willing to be a bench option at this point in his career

Bit gutted really. I liked what as saw as a person and a player, and I'm left feeling like he didn't really get enough of a chance. I'd have had him in the squad over several others, that's for sure.
But that's football and I wish him well

Seriously, is this the best that sky can come up with? He looks like he's hanging around the derelict garages waiting to score a gram of speed!

How's this got anything to do with TC? Kane is more of a star at u21 level and some would say he didn't do well at the Euro's, Dier didn't get selected, and Pritchard probably looked the best of our lot, so don't understand the relevance.

Are you saying that TC is a top player at u21s and this shows he won't make it with us? Do you think he was good for our u21s? He's still with us anyway, hope he gets his chance.

Seeing some of his football at Shalke was amazing, them through balls and being on a different page to a lot of other players.

He did show glimpses of that at Spurs then all of a sudden starting hacking people down and running around like a headless chicken. I don't know if he got told to put in more effort but the footballing side of him seemed to disappear completely.

I'm still a bit shocked that Ponch let him go, he was young, enthusiastic, wasn't afraid to put his foot in, had an eye for a pass and could have improved through the years. Hopefully we don't regret it either way

Remember his first game coming on as a sub at Norwich away I think it was and was very pleasantly surprised. He moved the ball on really quickly and played with great energy and enthusiasm. But he was never that good again! Very strange....

Am I the only one who thinks we could of got more than £6 million for him?

Maybe, but I think we owed it to him to let him have the move he wanted, rather than bugger about for bidders. After him not really being given a chance here, it would have been a shame to fuck him about over a few quid.
Some players deserve that but I don't class Holtby as one of those.

We've done some great business in the last few days with Holtby, Paulinho and the Falque windfall. About £17m in the coffers plus some hefty wages off the books.

With Mason coming through I suppose Poch didn't see need for another midfield terrier.

My concern is that Holtby is actually the better player, but I don't think there's much in it.

Best of luck to him.

Wonder if there's a sell on fee for the future too. Seems to be the way we've done things.recently.

Your right, it's pretty much got nothing to do with Carroll. I was just amused to see how quiet the TC fan club had become after the Euros

It was a cheap shot. After half a dozen games or so you feared for Holtby and his overall ability at this level and with this amount of pressure at a ’big club’

I'm yet to even see a player of his level in TC yet....
