I mean it sums up aswell the inconsistency in the argument of some people in terms of having our 3 non-hg keepers because people say that Poch see's gazzaniga as a great prospect yet he wasn't willing to trust him with the 2nd spot in our goalie ranks. Just smacks of a lack of assessing the HG situation imo. If Poch rated Gazzaniga we could have let Vorm go, if he doesn't then he shouldn't be taking up that spot.

I'm still confused by the ITK comment about us turning down Martial due to already having 3/4 non-HG players.

Alderweireld would be going in the opposite direction, so there would be no net change to our non-HG quota.
Janssen and Nkoudou are not really in the picture anyway. I would expect at least loan deals to be sorted out before the foreign windows close.
Our squad currently has space for a couple more HG players, but we would only have reason to fill these slots if we are a player short in a specific position. If we need to replace an outgoing player, this would almsot certainly mean another non-HG space become available (e.g. Aldweireld or Dembele)

It's easy for us to say Janssen and GKN etc aren't gonna be registered anyway but we still need to sell/ get rid of them. Clubs in Europe are gonna wait till our window is finished before making offers as they'd then have a good idea of who we'd have to get rid of and thus would offer next to nothing as we'd have very little bargaining power.

Similarly there's no rush for them to make any movements yet. So whilst it's likely we'll find clubs for them... as it stands they have nothing and no guarantees of anything so their just taking up a spot on our wage bill to just train and essentially never be played.

We did bad in buying them in the first place and now this window change has screwed us over.

We're gonna have to take an L on them to try and improve the squad but we need to figure out how much of a business hit we're gonna have to take. Cause it's gonna be a big fee to get anyone to upgrade our squad and then getting next to nothing in return. It's part of why I'm not massively against selling Toby (provided we can reinvest the money at least)

How are the other top 6 finding this out of interest? Surely also struggling?

Man City tends to have a couple of non-HG players who only play PL, due to the difference in PL/CL quotas.
Chelsea has something like 40 players out on loan :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I understand why it has to happen. Just the fact, the only reason this rule was introduced is the national team. Eric was captain at one time ffs:ROFLMAO:
Its wasnt introduced for the national team, it was introduced to encourage young talent coming through

I dont see how anyone can moan about it tbh, we taken advantage of it with the likes of Sigurdsson and Bentaleb in our favour whilst also using the locally trained for Rose to a certain extent

Also Dier wouldn't have been so cheap if he was a homegrown player for us, as it would driven up his price and allowed more teams to be in for him

Again the worst thing is that the amount of shit we have in that non homegrown list, a player like Gazzanigga is a waste of a slot

When is the deadline to register our squad with the Premier League? Is it 10 August or 1 September?

It seems to me that this is the key point. If the deadline to register the squad isn’t until after the deadline to sell players abroad (31 Aug), that increases our leverage when selling players. If the deadline is after the (earlier, 9 Aug) deadline to purchase, we are at a considerable disadavantage - unless we get into a bidding war scenario between two or more clubs who want someone.

Ccv is homegrown yeah ?

Yes he will be and club trained (which is a uefa term). But this season he's still U21 and doesn't need to be registered in the 25 man squad.

If we keep faith in our academy boys then we won't have to worry about this long term. CCV, Onomah, KWP, Amos will all need to be registered while hold home grown and club trained status from 2019/20.

I guess we might see a real bit of change next summer. Vorm, Dembele, Llorente will be out of contract. I''d imagine we'll have found some way of getting rid of Nkoudou and Janssen by then. So that by itself will take our non-HG down to 15.

On Spurs official Twitter there are some training pictures with the caption 'getting ready for Newcastle'

Nkoudou is in a picture with Dier and Aurier. Looks to me like he might make the squad and as such a non HG player will miss out.

When is the PL squad list announced?

All but 1 player can play in the PL squad, likely to be Janssen that misses out

Oh that’s great, I thought we had 18 non HG even with VJ out. I'll have to have a recount

Also don't we need a minimum amount of hg to be able to register 17 non-hg?
No its 17 NHG spots and 8 HG, if you can't fill lets say 4 HG spots then you can only register 21 players

Edit: Just to clarify, you can have 25 HG players if you wanted, it's just if you can't fill the reserved 8 for HG then you have to reduce total squad size per the number unfilled.

Levy got to focus and rid the fringe players this window. Then we can add what we need in Jan.

Problem with Jan is, you can only get players who are A. causing problems/kicking up a stink (example auba for arsenal, Van Dijk for Liv and Cout for Barca) or B. Surplus to requirements (Moura for us). We won't be able to land a key player from another team like Zaha.

What I'm saying is CLEARLY, we are getting Martial in Jan.

For next season Foyth moves into the b-list for the champions league right?

Then 20/21 he takes a non-homegrown slot again becasue he only had 2 seasons before he was 22?
