Not going to lie, don't really watch much overseas football nowadays.

I'll read up a bit on transfer targets but not much else.

Read a few articles recently suggesting Bale has been a flop in Spain. My assumption is this is slightly sensational.

How would people rate his performances overall now he has been there a good few seasons?

You always have to take any criticism of Madrid players with a pinch of salt, because the fans of that club are mental. Ronaldo has broken just about every record going and he's never more than one bad game or one minor perceived slight away from being whistled for 90 minutes until they move onto another target.

Bale's generally done well - this season has been disrupted by injuries but over the time he's been there he's scored plenty of goals, many of them very important. At that stratospheric, worldwide fame level that the likes of Bale, Ronaldo, Messi and Pogba are on, the income from image rights and 360 sponsorship makes a player's transfer value an irrelevance so any complaints that he hasn't been worth the money are a red herring - he's been consistently very good for Madrid, with occasional patches of poor form as you'd expect.

I suspect he will kick on further if Ronaldo ever fades, but by the looks of things Ronaldo will still be scoring 40 goals a season when we're all long dead, so Bale might have to get used to playing second fiddle for a while yet.

He's been good, but hampered by a few injuries. Modric has been amazing tho.

He's not as good as people claim he is, IMO he's not on Neymar's level let alone Ronaldo and Messi.

Injuries haven't helped but he should focus on what he's good at not try to copy Ronaldo, that guy is unique.

He has been good in my opinion. Certainly not being sold any time soon. Scored a lot of goals and important ones too.

Real Madrid is the Ronaldo show.
So of course the Spanish say he's flopped, he hasn't replaced Ronaldo as the almighty savior of football despite being more expensive.

Despite him famous goal in the Copa Del Rey, the thing I most miss is those blistering attacks down the flank, Seems to simply not be there at Madrid - the Copa goal being an exception - whereas it defined his play at Spurs.

'According to DiarioGol, the Welsh superstar has conditionally agreed to join Manchester United next season.
The Spanish outlet claims that the former Spurs man will move to Old Trafford if the Red Devils secure a Champions League berth for the 2017/18 season.

DiarioGol states that Real President Florentino Perez is frustrated at the 27-year-old’s injury problems and is believed to have felt let down by the player and will look to offload him at the end of the season.
Bale has held secret discussions with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and has reportedly verbally agreed to head to Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho has placed all his eggs in one basket by admitting the Europa League holds the best chance of them qualifying for the UCL.
Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal has virtually ruled out a top four finish, but if United can see off Celta Vigo, they are one game away from being crowned Europa League winners'

probably nonsense but I agree that his injury record is terrible. The times I look to see how he's getting on it always seems that he is injured.
would suit united, another thing for Mourinho to complain about when they lose

I suppose we should do the honourable thing an allow Perez to return him for a partial refund :sneaky:

If the fee is not crazy then I would be annoyed he didn't try to rejoin Spurs since he apparently left due to lack of ambition.

I was expecting him to have done more

54 goals in 100 games is very decent though

He has been a success there although he has been unlucky with injuries.

They don't think that at all. They just wrote it. An article saying Bale isn't going to United, who won't be paying £80m ain't selling papers :D

Considering his age, price, wage and skill set, he probably only has 1 maybe 2 more years to make a final big move. I can't see it happening. I can't see him becoming any less injury prone and with RM wanting to buy Hazard or PEA they will probably be looking to sell James and one of Vazquez or Isco. They are not going to sell Bale as well.
