His US contract expires in November:

Personally, I'd welcome it.

He seemed to have had a positive effect when he came to the Lane to train; he'd definitely help with some people needing to learn to cross better; and if he brings in some revenue selling a few shirts, I'm all for it.

Oh, I'm sure he'd get a some games too. :)

I'm not sure how you can say he had a positive effect, certainly wasn't reflected in our form on the pitch.

I'd take him. When he was wit us last year we had our best run in the pl all season, which fell away when he left. He is a model professional and is such a big name he gives everyone around him a lift. Yes, on the pitch he may not contribute hugely but he is the exact type of player who is great to bring on after 80 mins, away when you are under pressure as he will always be assured on the ball.

I'd welcome him. And if he plays well enough he might be able to get back in the England squad in time for Euro2012.

I only care about what he can do on the pitch and i'm afraid he hasn't played at a high level competitively for such a long time that I doubt he would be an asset.

I think people get drawn into the celebrity of Beckham and forget about the guy as a footballer. Yes he was very good at his peak but never world class IMO. This move would just be another case of Redknapp indulging himself rather than taking a risk and trusting his scouting team.

I love David Beckham. He's a superb guy, I've met him a few times, you couldn't meet a nicer bloke and his career and what he's won speak for itself

That being said I'm not sure if, for us, he's a step in the right direction

My opinion has in no way changed from when he was a year young, a year fitter and a year closer to his best days.

Happy to have him training/around the setup, but not in our 25 and certainly not on our wage bill.

The guy is almost as old as Friedel and has been semi-retired in a backwater for 4 years now.

If it wasn't for the 25-man limit then maybe, but you have to consider how many games he'll get, and for that matter, where he would play.

I really can't see him having the pace to play on the right at all. He'd probably be best playing either in a position like Hudd's or, maybe more likely, in the VdV role, dropping deep. Even so, I think he'd struggle to hold a place in the first team.

I'd take him. I think he is a very fit bloke and Giggs is proof that senior players still hold value in a squad even if they are not regular starters. In the few games i've seen this year he's looked very good still but may be more of a deep lying central player now than wing - same as Giggs i guess.

His name and brand would also do great things for us in securing a lucrative naming rights deal for the stadium and next seasons shirt sponsor which is going to be vital given the FFP rulings etc in our ability to spend going forward.

Yes it was. We had a great run when he was here and a shit run when he left. Who knows if it was just a coincidence but you can't rule it out that his presence/aura and experience assisted us.

Remember Alnwick is in our 25. I'd much rather have Beckham. And if we sign Leandro in Jan, then someone else may go, like Pav or Gio. There's enough space for Beckham.

By the way, you're embarrassing yourself with that sig wanting Parker out.

But next season we'll have to include Walker, Rose, Caulker (and Townsend) in the 25, so we'll be in the situation of needing to shift 6 to be able to buy 1 again. You just can't carry luxury reserves any more.

Always said Parker would be immediate deadwood and I'm sticking to it.
