LIVERPOOL changed their shape against Blackburn on Boxing Day when they went with three centre-halves - Daniel Agger, a young player they rate very highly, Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher.
The two wide players were Jon-Arne Riise and Steve Finnan and that’s normal, Finnan has been first-choice right-back for some time now and they have options at left-back with Fabiano Aurelio.

In midfield, Xabi Alonso is one of the best passers in the Premiership and Steven Gerrard has played a more central role, one of many he can play, and they have a number of options up front.

They are in good form, they are confident and they have players they can change around from Blackburn. If you look at the bench at Ewood Park, there’s Dirk Kuyt, a player Martin knows very well and a player who has been an instant hit in the Premiership. They also have Peter Crouch, Craig Bellamy, Robbie Fowler, Jermaine Pennant and Luis Garcia in forward areas.

Crouchy’s enjoyed a fine 2006, but he’s a good player, I would say one of few players in the league who can give a team something different. He has ability on the floor, we’re all aware of that, but you always have the threat of him getting his head on something and scoring a goal or creating one for someone else.

Liverpool are creating a lot of chances and before Blackburn, scoring a lot of goals as well. They are capable of scoring goals and the squad, for me, is one of the strongest.

So we expect an exciting game on Saturday. They will want to push on and we will be looking to maintain our record at home.

I get the feeling that these reports are about 3% of the actual information that is gathered on opposing teams. I'd be worried if this is all we know about Liverpool

Aren't we all glad that we bought Berbatov instead of Kuyt?

Hmmmm, Delighted with Berbatov, but we bought Mido as well, I would prefer Kuyt to Mido.

I cannot see Kuyt settling for the bench ! Mido/Keane need to be our link from the left !

mido was about 3 or 4 million, kuyt was 10 million, and as the above post stated, kuyt wouldnt be too happy being on the bench.

"When I think of Liverpool I think of Dirk Kuyt as well," said Dutchman Jol.
"They have the same as we have with all these options up front, Dirk is probably like Berbatov.
"Berbatov has shown everyone he is a good buy but Dirk Kuyt has shown that too, and it is not easy when you come over to England."
He added: "I think Berbatov did fine, as a foreign player it's always a difficult job and the same applied for Dirk Kuyt."
Jol has previously described Kuyt as a player who could score 20 goals and set up another 20 with assists, although he believes that target has to be revised this season.
"I said Kuyt is a 20-20 player. I still feel that but it won't be easy because we've had half of the season and he might be a 10-10 player - but you will see that he is so honest," added Jol.
"He's probably not a player who can beat four men in a row but he is so good, so versatile and in Holland he is one of the best players."

I guess Kuyt said 'no'...not us?
