We are the Wizard of Oz team right now.

In many areas we are sadly lacking in heart, brains and courage.

Lennon could be Toto.....but then who is Dorothy?......and who is the witch? .... and who is the Wizard who pretends to be something he's not? (I vote Baldini for the Wizard)

What a fluke - pity Spurs cannot win against 10 men. This team has no leader - he was playing for the other side. Wait till the Everton and Chelsea game - Spurs are going to get beatings of a lifetime. MoPo - you have been put in a difficult situation - I think the spirit of this team is not just there. I do feel sorry for Steve Bruce - Jan was a disgrace to go down like that. Its Karma - trust me Spurs will be served this against Everton and Chelsea - Lets face it we are relegation fodder, Lamela,Soldier Bot,Pauline,Capoue, Fazio, Moussa - what a waste of Money ! I rather see our youngsters given a chance.

If the upcoming results are going to come down to karma and lack thereof, we are safe as houses against Chelsea.

I think that 2 come-from-behind wins over teams with 10 men sitting deep are good signs in terms of mentality though, Cos.

We were patient and probing and didn't fall apart. There's a lot wrong with us, but we're standing firm in certain areas. Now, if only we could do that at home...

Can we just talk about Jan's attempted bicycle kick for a second? Because that 'effort' still has me laughing this morning.
I've seen spurs fail miserably against 10 men teams quite a few times , when the other team goes down to 10 we should be winning the game so what happened yesterday was a good thing. Also Poch could see what the issue he had was and put chriches on at right back and he was much better than dier and provided the width required got in crosses and stretched the game more. Adding Lennon later on then did this even more and i'm glad it occurred as Dier looks very low in confidence at right back now and spent pretty much the whole first half passing back and sideways which slowed us down.

Dorothy is played by Lewis, a long way from home.
Toto is his little dog Levy.
The scarecrow is MP for obvious reasons.
The lion is capoue - he isn't very brave.
And the flying monkey has flown off to madrid.

Just watched the match. First half so-so, but the second we played some very good passing football. No doubt it will be argued that it was against 10 man but seriously some of you need to wipe the shit, cistern, drains and whole fucking sewage plant out of your eyes.

Dare I say it as I think Vlad is not good enough as a CB in the premier league but we may have luckily learnt a couple of things today.
Stick him RB
Put Dier in his preferred CB position beside Verts and Davies at LB.
Try that for a few games.
Never stick Erikson on the wing!
Good to see some proper width with Lennon back.
Chadli a must ( where was he today?)
Need a more solid midfield and stick with Kane and Soldado up front...

Let me know when you manage to form all of these into one starting XI lol

lloris
chiriches dier vertonghen davies
stambouli mason
lennon kane eriksen
soldado

that ought to do it -- Spurs 4-2-3-1 system doesn't really play traditional wingers, so eriksen is safe here ;)

maybe even vlad can replicate the outside-in pass corluka used to play lennon way back when...

Something grated me a little.

There was a handball from the Hull defender at about 30 seconds into the game, last defender handballed it back to the keeper.

It was completely ignored in the ground, commentry and there were only 3 comments made at the beginning of this thread.

Shocking to be honest, almost seemed like it was ignored because it was the beginning of the game - havent replayed it back, but last man, can't recall if it was a goalscoring opportunity though.

Meh, anyway, thought I'd get that off my chest.

I was the first one to comment lol. But yeah totally agree. Its the slightest of contacts but in doing so he has helped the ball on back to his keeper so it was most definitely intentional.

Can't believe not one of the assistants saw the movement of his arm to the ball. Crazy that they all missed it. And no one at halftime even mentioned it.

But Lennon didn't appear on Trans World sport as the next child genius who's destiny lay at the hands of playing for the likes RM or Barcalona.

Lennon didn't also play at one of Europes biggest clubs in Roma...

So yeah, it was always going to cost a tidy mint for him to come and join us and yes as I said before, we paid for his potential not the player he is now.

So this question about money is a bit of red herring in my books, as it was not just a simple case of the money. If we give him enough time and put our faith in him and act like fucking fans for once and give him the confidence to develop his game like we did with Bale, Modric. then the price tag means fuck all if he goes for more than what we brought him for.

Not saying you, but I think in general this price tag argument is only being by impatient twats that don't have two brain cells to rub together and would rather see someone fail than be a success, especially if they are not English. Simple because they equate the cost to being an instant success and can't see we paid that much to to develop a potential global footballing rarity and put our name on the map to develop even more future worldies....

Look what did for Lamela, come and play for us....

If you understand where I am coming from? So it is in our best interests not to fuck this up and we the fans are doing everything we can to fuck everything up, because we are so fucking spoiled and impatient.

Here's what i SEE and what i have SEEN. This opinion bears no malice towards the player or ANY fan on SC.

We have overpaid for Lamela plain and simple, and he may or may not be at the "going rate" for a player with his record in Italy, but few could argue that when you line up players brought into the PL at a similar fee they have out performed what we have seen so far from Lamela. SO FAR. He no doubt has potential, and shows skill against teams that are (EL) poor by PL standards, and teams that will sit back and let him play. The fee Levy paid is huge for potential, in fact for any PL club to pay for potential. That is undeniable.

He is very lightweight (but so was Modric) and is far off the pace of the PL especially against those pressing sides that mark very tight. That said he is learning, appears committed and has a role to play that i feel is yet to be decided. I would suggest that if he'd have cost say eight-ten million then he would (like in Holtby's case, not the fee) have been loaned out to gain experience of the pace and rigours of the PL (even Championship) football. A season or half a season say at Derby under McClaren (for example) may have set him in better stead than at Spurs given the turmoil of last season?

If he improves this season as should be expected then he has a bright future, but I do have a nagging doubt that like Paulinho (and it now possibly looks like Fazio) that his undoubted talent is just not suited to the PL style. That said everyman and his dog in the press were said the same about Modric.

The money paid for Lamela will always be a measure of quality and so it should be (what other measure is there?), and for any fan to deny that fact is simply refusing to accept the truth, and that is when compared pound for pound against any similar transfer fee paid for a young player by any PL Club Lamela has still yet to pay some of that outlay back.

Time will tell, and i truly hope that he delivers on his potential, but it's very hard to see his role in the team so far this season. But then again that can be said for more than just him?

I think we over paid for him.

I agree with much of what you said, but I am just trying not to make that tag any heavier than it needs to be...

That is all I am doing, just trying to support the fella.

Why do I want to talk about that twat?

After reading yesterdays ITK, I hope he fucks off or we sack the prat.

I would (and i love your passion) take what you read in there with a humongous pinch of salt. You'd perhaps be as well informed by reading these for an insight into what's happening at the club:

One thing we learnt yesterday, don't let Kane take any more free-kicks.
I have seen him take three recently all like back passes, with a lucky deflection v Villa

I love his enthusiasm though!!

Eriksen should take all free kicks, IMO.

Shouldn't take corners though, they are proper awful.

Eriksen free kicks, Lamela for corners,,,hasn't he two assists from corners already - Chadlii against Villa and Dier against QPR?
