I think over the years, it's down to him that we always faulter. He just stands there and doodles during the game, occasionally asking Jol if he needs another chewy.

Now Hughton played left back so should know a thing or 2 about defending. Our problems at the moment are mainly down to our defense so clearly he isn't doing much there.

I'd get shot of him and get in another coach who is a proven expert in defending and let Jol carry on with the attacking side.

Just my 10p worth Eek

No one listened to him :duh:

If we had a better midfield we would let in less goals but because out midfield is soo poor it puts pressure on our defense we spend 40M and still playing with the same midfield as last season a joke really

To me, Hughton just looks like a joke of a man. Standing there with his papers. As the poster said, being a former defender, he should know a thing or two about defending. Well, it doesn't look like he's dishing out much advice.

Its not only Hughton that should be looked at... I've been a big defender of Jol but even I have started to look seriously at his preparations towards defending and his attitude towards player football away from home....i.e Tanino instead of Lennon when we have Zokora Jenas in the middle, also I don't understand when Jol makes lavish statement about players in the press and fails to play them.. he once said he wouldn't swap Huddlestone for anyone.

I think Hughton and Jol (at least) need to go, but I don't have any answer to who replaces them. I guess the Board are working on that, but will be very careful not to alert the press to their actions.

Too be fair, pretty much everything at our club has changed over the last few years.......except for Chrissy H, and despite all those changes you can still find "the same old spurs" in the side.

Its no coincidence

oh, hi bro!

I agree. We have always had that soft center.

Jol has got us scoring like madmen, got us 2 good positions in previous leagues so he has been positive in the grand scheme of things.

I think perhaps Hughton should stay just to keep Jol happy, just get in extra staff for the areas we are criminally lacking:

Making young players better
Set pieces
Defensive structure as a team from Berbs back
Clamp down on the sulkers
Fitness (no more late goals)

Jol also needs to buck up (but stay). If I see Lennon on the left one more time I will scream.

People will laugh at me but I think Sammy Lee would be a GREAT coaching acquisition. He did not make a good manager, but as a number 2 he made big Sams team formidable at set pieces/defending. Bolton are an absolute pile of shit of a team. But as a number 2 he helped get them into the top of the table. And the fitness of the team is legendary.

but who gives them to Hughton?

Being a left back does not mean he is our defencive coach, its also a huge diffrence from playing LB than it is to play CB. Two of our LB are Lee and Bale, and are (for me) two of our best players.
