Not the most useful thread but I'm flipping bored because of this international break. In years gone by I may have been looking forward to the game but Sven/SonofSven have dulled things to oblivion. So now all it is, is two spurs free weeks. I can't even bitch about Lawro because he hasn't mentioned us or our terrible away form for a week.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

With you on that one, camaj. Watching England play is slightly less entertaining than watching paint dry. Which reminds me, I have a coat of emulsion on the go, excuse me...

I sat through Children In Need with Mr Wogan looking bewildered. That was marginally better than the game.

I agree though. Club footballl is where it's at.

I have a slight interest in the internationals .

If Russia beat Israel , the tide of deluded souls calling for the Premiership to be devalued by having a cap on foreign nationals in each team will become louder still .

C'mon you Yids....(er am I allowed to say that ?)

I hate the international breaks coz it means England are going to be playing. Luckily most of our English talent was left out and injured players have more time to get fit and back in the squad

Not sure about the Yid part, but I do think the time has come to secure a certain level of British players coming through the ranks of every Premiership club. I'm Not sure how many players should be of this or that origin and didn't think it would be a major issue, but Wenger et al have proved me wrong I think...

Same here. International football is becoming boring now. It is predictable (well England games are). I hate how come every tournament nearly every fan and all of the media forget England's problems in order to rant and rave about how we are going to win it. If we sneak into Euro 2008 it's going to be the same, then we crash out in a quarterfinal with a gutless performance that reminds the deluded people just how bad the England team is.

I really hope that NONE of the "home nations" qualify for all major footballing occasions. It's fucking horrendous when they do.

The way i see it is we either embarrass ourselves now by not qualifying, or we embarrass ourselves later when everyone's hopes are up and we start talking about how we are going to win the competition, and then we crash and burn in the quarters against Portugal again.

I like the tournaments in the summer (ie world cup and euro's), as much for watching the other teams as England. But, in general I've never been able to really get into following England since Gazza was left out of France 98. The only thing I find interesting about Internationals is watching potential Spurs targets. Tonight I'm more interested in seeing Arshavin play than anything else.

I also love the summer tournaments (especially the WC) as it gives me a chance to see so much football all day every day, with teams I would never normally get to see, as well as the best teams in the world, in one giant melting pot where the completely different styles always seem to clash and generate a slew of extremely entertaining matches. I also get introduced to exciting new players or famous players I've never had the chance to watch before.

However, international breaks within the Premiership season are a fucking nightmare, I hate them, since they stop me seeing my beloved Spurs.

I'm just thinking of it as a 2-week break for Ramos to work his magic on the training ground. It was just after a similar break that Jol kicked us into shape last season (or was it season before?) and we went on a fantastic run of results.

The new and improved Tottenham, grand unveiling at Upton Park... coming soon!
