What's new

I wholeheartedly support an influx of Sevilla players.

Except it's not going to happen.

The only reason we have a chance of getting Poulsen is because he seems to have a buy-out clause of £7 million.

Most of Sevilla's Spanish players will have ridiculous buy-out clauses - £20 million-plus - and the last club Del Nido is going to do a deal with is us.

Like Joey, I'd take Keita in a heartbeat. But we signed KPB in the summer instead, and we have to hope Ramos can get him playing in a similar vein. (Yes, hope!)

The only way we'll get other Sevilla players is if we meet the fees agreed by other clubs. But if there's another bidding war for say, Alves, there's no way he'd come to us over a CL club. Plus spending £25 million on a RB when we have Chimbonda would be a shockingly poor use of limited funds.

As for Kanoute, we only need him if Berba goes. And since it sounds like Barca and Milan may be interested, it's unlikely to happen. At 30 years of age, Fredi is finally old enough to play in an Ancelotti team...

I've now seen Keita 3 times this season and I'm sure he is a top 4 quality CM. I'd easily take him over any other player at Seville including Alvez. The annoying thing is that apparently he only cost 4 million euros in the summer and was bought instead of KPB.

From Lens, about whom you'd think Comolli knows quite a bit.

Havent they been knows to be a little bit of a selling team in the past?

That's exactly what i was thinking. There were a few CMs from Ligue 1 I liked the look of and am dissapointed, given Comollis knowledge of the league, that we didn't even get linked to the likes of Makoun and Bodmer.

Umm I meant it, swap the team, as I mentioned above I wouldn't keep hardly anyone from our team, The Sevilla team are miles better so yeah I'd swap the whole team for there's. Not quite sure where you were going with this.

Yes, that's very true - with Reyes and Baptista being the prime examples. But times have changed a bit. Sevilla are now one of Spain's Big Four (which they weren't when Reyes and the Beast were sold) and they're keen to hang on to their best players. Turning down Chelski's £20million-plus bid for Dani Alves was a real statement of intent by Del Nido. After all, that was crazy money for a FB.

As others have said, their DoF seems to have a great eye for a player, and they've signed some excellent players for peanuts. For instance, Escude seemed to have missed out on his big move before ending up at Sevilla, where he's blossomed.

As above, I really think our only hope of signing Sevilla players is if they have a Minimum Fee Release clause in their contracts as a hangover from the days when they were a selling club, and it seems Poulsen may be the best example of this.

If Spurs want to win the League they need better players than those. Let's not forget that Sevilla budget was/is smaller than that of Tottenham. I expect Juande to sign better players now.

Forgot to say that Juande siad on Spanish radio that he won;t go for any Sevilla players. BTW, Del Nido is a tough customer when selloing players. He buys cheap and sells very expensive. That's why Sevilla are were they are, punching above their weight.

No but I would like to see Ramos pick his diamonds from Sevilla like Palop, Alves, Poulsen, Kanoute and Kerzhakov.

I'm agreeing with ya mate

I don't think its the players as such. Its just having players that are bound into Ramos's way so they dont have to take 6 years to bed in like most of our signings seem to need!

Lol, I think JJ and Zok are still bedding in!

Interesting point, and I hope you're right. I imagine there are plenty of players Ramos admires who might have been unaffordable on Sevilla's transfer budget.

Do you think the ITK rumours linking us with Arteta are likely to have any substance? Are there any other Spanish players you think the real Juande may go for?

What did you think of Keita's last 2 games? You said last week that you consider him to be a box to box player, as he was in France, but again of Sunday, against Madrid, he seemed to be sitting pretty deep and playing as more of a steadying influence in midfield. The commentators on Sky also mentioned this. Could this be something the new coach has instructed him to do, which Ramos never?

Oh fuck off

[in reference to the comment "why don't you support them?"]

I think that's a good question. What is 'Tottenham' about Tottenham? The manager and coaching staff? The players?

Our manager needs a translator. Only about half of the first team has English as a first language. Apart from the obvious difficulty in getting along to games, why not just support Sevilla?

Haven't watched Sevilla since Jimenez took over. So I can't tell.

We are the most hated English team in Spain apparently. Can't see many of Seville's players signing.

Nor do I want them too.

No idea. Arteta is certainly not a quick winger like the ones he's had at Sevilla, but has great delivery and can beat players with skill. Defensively he may not be good enough to play the attacking CM role.

The problem with Spanish players is that most of the best if not all are playing at big clubs, so it will be more difficult to lure them. Actually Sevilla did well buying at cheaper markets. Alves for instance cost Sevilla less than half million pounds.

I agree with that. Assuming for a moment that we are after Arteta, unless Ramos is going to change his entire system, I can only imagine he'd use him as the attacking/tempo dictating CM. Arteta is far too slow to be a classic Ramos wide player.

At Everton, I can't ever remember Moyes playing Arteta as one of two CMs. When Cahill plays the box-to-box role, you usually get several identical baldies playing CM, with Arteta out wide. So, playing Arteta as one of two CMs would be a new role for him in the EPL. However, to repeat my comments from other threads, I can see Ramos wanting to pair Poulsen with Arteta in CM.
