What's new

If we had to sell one in the summer who would it be? Rose or Dier

Seems like these are the 2 first teamers most likely to go, who would you rather sell(If we had to)?

Actually agree with this. It’s not that he’s terrible or anything, but he’s not a lot more than a utility player imo. If he wasn’t so versatile I’m not sure people would be so keen on him. Is he better than Wanyama? No. Is he better than our defenders, No.

A lot of people on here seem to idolise him, I just can’t see why.
Just seeing you got your panties in a bunch I'll ask you who idolises Dier?

So many over blown statements on here when there hasn't been need since we got beaten by City. One bang average game and threads like this get bumped.

Funny stuff.

:ROFLMAO:

Christ, you are painful to read. Grow the fuck up.
In a thread created for fun, do you realise I'm having fun at the notion you'd sell either?

The ruddy irony in your post is too much.

How about you lighten up?

Can’t tell us why you do (or possibly don’t) rate Dier?

Also, not sure why you’re having a go at me, I just responded to the thread. Is that not allowed?
You spammed me having a chuckle at the thread then highlighted it. Not sure why you even dragged me in.

No I wouldn't sell either. (unless hypothetically they wanted out and you didn't want to upset the squad)

Hope that clears up any lingering doubt.

I don’t even give a shit about the topic at hand, nor do I even have a dog in your fight, I just stepped in here, ironically, to have a laugh at why this thread was bumped. Instead, I find something akin to a child pouting and running around a room away from his parents.

The irony is still strong.

The fact you now felt the need to comment is beyond me if you were also in here to have a laugh ...

Carry on though.

So you’re not here to talk about Dier and Rose then.... :(

Okay before anyone has a hissy fit and suggests I'm saying we should sell him I'll caveat that no I would definitely not sell him.

However, does anyone else feel like he's lost that spark he had in his game ever since he went mental in battle of bridge? Ignoring today as everyone was shite, but personally this season in CM he just seems like a completely different type of player than he used to be. I don't particularly rate his passing what I liked about him in CM previously was he got stuck in and was a bit of nasty bastard. It just seems to have gone, whenever he plays with Dembele it seems like it's Dembele who gets stuck in. What happened to the Dier who used to fly into tackles. It's all a little bit timid for my liking.

To challenge for honours, besides having a solid starting 11, we would also need a strong bench.

Dier is currently the best DM cover when Wanyama is unavailable.
Dier is also the best CB cover for Jan, Toby and Sanchez.
He also has the ability to smoothly slip into the centre of the defence (when playing with 2 CBs) when
we are in defence mode.

There are other more urgent areas to improve - like finding adequate cover for Kane and Eriksen.

My problem with Dier is that I like him. He seems like a nice guy and I feel that he really likes spurs and his team mates. He appears to have real captain potential but I don’t think he’s good enough for our best 11. He’s not in out best two CMs and he’s isn’t in our best two CDs. He looked best when we played a three at the back last season with Jan and Toby alongside him. I like him there and had no issues with him. But now we’ve signed Sanchez I feel that if we had a fully fit back three then he still wouldn’t make it.

We seem to have settled back to 4231 again so for me he shouldn’t be in the strongest 11.

Dier reminds me of Palacios (not in the way he plays) more that he was good/great for what we needed at the time, but it feels like we've moved on from him and he's just not quite good enough now. He's still young but he needs to take it up a level.

As cover, I completely agree. The problem is Poch dosen't see him as cover. He sees him as an integral part of our best 11. He isn't. He's not half the DM Wanyama is. He's our 4th best CB. But watch, Alderweild will be back and starting most matches soon. That will most likely force Sanchez or Son onto the bench. The fact that Dier will be seeing major minutes over either is gross.
