he is older and has been injured a lot lately.

Dier is so handy for us. Being able to play CB and DM gives Poch a lot of flexibility in games.

He only turned 24 last week, so will still improve too.

As cover, I completely agree. The problem is Poch dosen't see him as cover. He sees him as an integral part of our best 11. He isn't. He's not half the DM Wanyama is. He's our 4th best CB. But watch, Alderweild will be back and starting most matches soon. That will most likely force Sanchez or Son onto the bench. The fact that Dier will be seeing major minutes over either is gross.

Unfortunately it’s looks like Poch is following some of the unpopular traits of BMJ - persistent in playing his favourite players (irrespective of form or quality, when compared with other better available players) and late substitutions where the number of minutes isn’t sufficient to affect the score line.

Poch is a very good mgr / coach but he’s not perfect, however I hope he realises that some of his tactics have not been working and that he is flexible enough to change it when necessary.
