If we won the league I would wake up and realise it was a dream... seriously, we're doing well, but we are already relying on City going through a pretty lean patch and us maintaining our run of form.

Let's stay a little realistic at least.

3rd would be a major achievement, anything higher would be undeniably Insanely awesome, but hugely unlikely.

3rd considering our outogings and wage structure would be a huge huge deal. If we somehow won the league then City should have all their capital taken away from them as punishment!

Above Chelsea and Arsenal would be fantastic! Sneaking into second behind Citeh would be the cherry on top.

I can't help but think his court case is going to do us some damage... we need to get as many points before Jan as we can... Good news is liverpool have city this week and I think Newcastle have a tough one as well...

Anyone who slated Harry's ability if we ever won the league would obviously be a WUM or a twat who knows nothing about football. However, some just don't like him as a person so they would still slate his inability to control his mouth in a media situation.

Despite a quite excellent performance last night, we all know the second we don't play the perfect 90 minutes, he'll be slated again by some. There's discussing bad tactics after the game and there's picking pointless arguments because they don't like Harry. Guess we'll just have to get used to it.

On a separate note, I was actually slightly disappointed that there weren't more pro Harry songs last night considering what he's been through. Even when the Villa fans were chanting about tax, there was no immediate response from us, though we eventually responded with 2-0 down to the same tune. Harry obviously hasn't got the same likability factor as Jol for example, which surprises me a little.

Anyway, if we win the league, I'll suck off every single person on here. I can't see that happening. If we finish top 3, I'll stand outside my house naked for a 2 minute applause. I'll be absolutely ecstatic with top 4.

Thing is, I don't even want Harry to be as popular with the fans as Martin Jol was, I just want people to respect him, and talk about him as a manager rather than the 'he cant keep his mouth shut' etc etc. That stuff really doesn't matter to me, it's a results business.

If you're too popular with the fans then they end up looking past the weaknesses. I think it was the same situation when people refused to accept that Keane's legs had gone, because he was that popular it took longer for people to see what was actually happening.

January - both Harry's court case and what happens in the window - will have a definite impact on our final league position.

Top two, personally, I think is out of the question. We'd have to maintain our current form for the rest of the season to finish 2nd and lose a maximum of 5 games with minimal draws. I can't see it myself despite the wonderful form we're enjoying.

Third is very realistic in my eyes. Chelsea aren't the force they used to be and quite a bit of damage could be done to them by the time the transfer window springs open and Roman starts throwing his money around. Will they spend big again after what's transpired with their January signings from last season (Torres and Luiz)

Arsenal are always one injury to RVP away from going into panic mode imo. They're beatable at home this season and still have to entertain us, Man Utd, City, Chelsea and Newcastle (who beat them there last year) at the Emirates. Going there isn't the same as the fear teams experience coming to the Lane. RVP will get injured. Who will they sign in January that is going to make that much of a difference?

Liverpool aren't a solid enough outfit yet to push for third and they will finish 6th I believe.

We can get 3rd this year and that would be enough for me! To be the top London club in the league suits me...for now!

Win the League? Nope can't see it but if we do I will probably have a heart attack, keel over and die. That might be fun.

They have a race for fourth thread over on Redcafe, quite a few think we'll do it but this comment stuck out like a sore thumb!:

Never underestimate Spurs capacity for a spectacular collapse.

But we haven't had that since Harry joined and with him i think if he stays with us and we have stability then we won't see a collapse.

Our biggest problem will comes if Harry gets banged up, followed by Modric leaving, Ade deal not being done on a perm and VDV getting injured. Add to that perhaps Bale off to Barca and we'd be in the middle of a full blown collapse at that point, but none of that is likely to happen IMO.

True. In fact the last 'spectacular collapse' I can remember involved Gillian McKeith.

Topical.

Please let that be the one and only time you ever compare our wonderful club to that sour-faced, shit-obsessed, fame-hungry bitch!

I hate her. I hate her so much it hurts.

I'm not promising anything. Especially as I've just realised she bears more than a passing resemblance to Luka Modric.

It may not count as a spectacular crash but we certainly made a mess of the end of the last season.

Good to see people here saying they'd "settle" for third place. It would be just awful if we got all ahead of ourselves.

I'll be happy as long we finish 4th. And if we finish above Arsenal, I'll be even happier.

No-one is being unrealistic - we all know it is a huge ask.
But, ask yourself this: Are Manchester United in a race for the title?
We are 4 points behind with a game in hand - so, if we play the assuming game, and assume that we win our game in hand, we will be 1 point behind them. In which case, we are in the race for the title. Are we definite outsiders = YES.
Can we beat Citeh at their place = I believe we can.
Aside from two hugely unrepresentative games, we are matching them for form.
If they lose one game, say their next at Anfield, and we keep up our form, then beating them at the Etihad would make up that points gap, just about.
To repeat, we are definite outsiders, but it is not wholly beyond the bounds of possibility, is it.

if we won the league i would eat my own sh*t

Saved for future reference

I would settle for third place - I would be even more settled for 2nd or 1st.

Anyone who would slate Harry's ability based on what he's already achieved since he's been with us would also probably qualify for those descriptions...but you might have noticed that there are a good few around.

I'm absolutely certain that if we were to win the league, the FA cup and the Europa with the second team this year, there would still be some posters here slagging him off as a tactically inept jack-the-lad. Perhaps whinging that he hadn't won us the Champs league yet. I'm sure someone would come out with the phrase "he won't take us to the next level", whatever the hell that means.

Buit as for winning the league, it's not something I think I have ever given much thought to, it always seeming so hypothetical, like winning the lottery or dating Angelina Jolie, so hard to say. I do remember a feeling of pure bliss when we qualified for the Champs league, another moment I was afraid I would never experience in my lifetime.
