Well now the season is basically over and finished a lot more positively than a lot of us on here anticipated time for a little fantasy Tottenham fun.

With all the talk these days about philosophies and high pressing, tiki-taka, parking the bus etc, it got me thinking if you as a fan had the chance next season to become Tottenham manager right here right now and we’re given the idea of fantasy football to be able to sign any players in the world to build a team to suit your philosophy/formation but they can be from any generation and would be that player in his prime but playing next season, who would you buy, how would the team look and what would your style of play be? You can keep any of our current players but you could also replace them all if you want.

Would you try to go toe to toe with Pep and turn us into tiki-taka masters? Would you play gung ho like Klopps teams, very solid like a Simeone Athletico, 3,4,5 at the back, would you try turn us into a bit of a Fergie Utd of the 90’s 4-4-2 attack attack attack, would you take a more pragmatic Jose approach? How about a similar style to AC Milan of 90’s with no width but that amazing diamond 4. Would you care how our football was perceived or you would just want to win trophies for us? Which kind of previous team would you try and model us on? How different would the style and players be from what we have now? What would you like the players/teams principles to be?: skilful, hard working, good passing team, tactically astute, never say die attitude, we’ll score more than you, we’ll never concede??

I personally have always appreciated 3 teams all with slightly different styles:
1) Utd Fergie teams because they had a perfect mix of quality, effort, fight and winning attitude, last minute goals etc and decent to watch
2) Pep or before him Cruyff’s Barca and Holland and Ajax total football/tiki-taka teams
3) Italian teams such as the one which won the World Cup most recently in 2006 I think it was and that AC Milan team which had the incredible defence of: Dida,Cafu,Maldini,Nesta,Stam the beautiful passing fluid but also solid midfield of : Pirlo,Seedorf,Gattuso and Kaka and great strikers.
I also very much like how we currently play under Poch dominating games and high pressing and possession.

So my team would have aspects of all of these styles and the Line-up would be(based on players from any era but in their peak)

4-4-2 (can be flat fairly standard formation but can adapt to a 4-3-3/4-5-1 if needed it would be a very flexible formation in attack but solid in defence)

GK: Buffon - Amazing captain, leader and one of the best GK’s ever. Never say die attitude and winner. Great character to bring to the club

RB: Lahm - I’d want my full-backs getting up and down the line being able to attack and defend, Lahm was on of the best ever at this and also a natural leader and great passer

CB: King - Spurs runs in his blood and when fit on his day he’s absoloutley world class

CB: Vegthonghen - I’d keep super Jan, he should be our player of the season this year, he’s the complete defender and would fit the passing style perfectly

LB: A.Cole - in this fantasy example he’d never have played for Arsenal or Chelsea he’d have come straight to us in his prime, again on his day world class and can get up and down the left all day long.

RM: Beckham - his Grandad was a huge Spurs fan and he’d have decided to sign for us and not Man.U. He was such an underrated player, can attack, defend, pass, cross, shoot, set pieces, amazing player.

CDM: Roy Keane - Some hate Keane and for good reason but for me he is he epitomie of winner, sometimes he went too far but for me alongside Fergie Keane was the biggest reason for Man.U being so successful and before his injuries he was a bloody phenomenal CM, he’d also give us that fear factor.

CM: Modric - the little fella is a genius for me possibly the best player Spurs have had certainly best CM ever and he’s proved that at RM. He runs games. Such a stylish Spurs type player

LM: Bale - Wonderous left foot, pace, power, scores goals, I’d Have the bale under AVB who singlehandely was winning us games

ST/CF/N.o 10: Kaka - beautiful footballer who would glide past players, set up and score goals

ST: Kane - He’s one of our own, in this team he’d easily go on to best Shearers record. Can’t pick a dream fantasy spurs team without him.

Subs: (just 5)
GK- Lloris - brillaint goalie and servent to the club
DF - Maldini - complete defender and can cover LB or CB
CM - Gerrard - can cover either CM role, complete midfielder and can win games
AM - Van Der Vaart - Could cover a lot of positions in this team, brillaint player, goals, assists,set-pieces, passion and my favourite ever spurs player by a mile
ST - Ronaldo (original) With Kane as 1st choice and Kaka behind him we’d need a pacey option and Ronaldo at his peak was one of the best ever.

Tactics/philosophy/style:
-Intensity (all these players give 110% and can play at a high tempo)
-Push and run? This team would be able to play the old spurs push and run style but also be blisteringly quick and direct in attack when needed
-Never say die and fight for everything, with these players there are so many leaders and we’d be proud to watch the team fight for every tackle and ball and play until the very last minute
-We’d generally maintain our famous attacking good football style but we’d have the quality in all areas to still remain solid at the back but good on the eye, the team would also know how to win dirty if needed.
-Balance : most importantly the team would have balance, height, pace, strength, agility, attack, defend, pass, press high, sit a little deeper, it could do whatever was needed to adapt and win the game whilst trying to maintain a good attractive style of play.

So there you have it a bit of fun, this would be my vision of Spurs in this fantasy land.
We’d win the league unbeaten of course breaking all records, we’d win the FA cup beating Arsenal in the semis and Chelsea in the final after going 1-0 down. Then we’d beat Peps Barcelona in the most famous and glamours of CL finals, 4-3 to Tottenham attacking stylish football going toe to toe with one of the most successful CL and club teams of all time.

So what would your dreamteam fantasy spurs team look like, how will we line-up and play,

COYS!

Interesting post but had to giggle at the idea of a thong made of vegetables!

You need to get out of the house and find yourself a girlfriend. ;)

Either that, or you're already married.

Nice idea, but can't help think we'd be a bit leek-y at the back. Then again, if Levy can work his magic and get a good dill for him then I'm all for it.
Well, I’ll be rooting for him.

Messi, Maradonna, Pele, Kane, Schmiechel + six others. I'd manage them. My philosophy would be "Do what you want, I'll be in the pub".

I’d have a goalkeeper and 10 Moussa Sissokos, the outfield would be so good it wouldn’t matter what formation they played in or who the goalkeeper is. :ROFLMAO:

So basically, what is your all time dream team?

Surely a thread for the general football forum.
Not exactly as it would be if you were spurs manager what style would you play and formation and all the Q’s I put in the post relating to tottenham and also reasons for choosing players to play for tottenham not just in a general dream team.

I will keep this fairly recent.

Avb an his style was simply magic at times, we had the opposition on a trance with our side to side passing.

The whole keep it fairly solid and just give it to your best player and hope for the best was pure genius. You could tell he learned from Mourinho.

I’d say we Could use the current team and:
Be more risk taking early in the games against lesser teams.

Bring in one super-experienced man: like Terry, Gallas, Ramos, Ribery or someone like that.

You should be banned from SC for suggesting that. I’d not only rip up my season ticket if that **** ever signed for Spurs I’d burn the stadium to the ground.
