I came out of the ground yesterday feeling pretty low. The performance was dismal.
Obviously quite a few issues with the team. Modric was an amazing find and we've never replaced him so the control and link between defence and attack has gone. Dembele and Paulinho aren't creative enough and Tom Carroll has not developed. No wonder AVB wanted Moutinho because at the moment we have forwards and defenders and nobody dictating the flow between the two.
The pace has gone as well. No Bale, Lennon (due to losing his form) and Walker in the team. We look static and average. Fucking average.
At least Lamela is starting to get involved but with the lack of pace and movement around him his job is made harder.
Anyways lets hope Pochettino can sort us out.

When three first teamers say that they are at a loss to understand what went wrong, frankly that's even more worrying than the result.....especially since the manager spelled out what went wrong 5 minutes after the bloody final whistle!

Seems obvious to me. They came to fight for the points and we thought we only had to turn up. Complacency against supposedly inferior teams has cost us dearly year after year.

hes the captain. A 'leader'. Rather than wonder, do something about it on the pitch. Hes too nice in the tunnel and on the pitch, why would the players feel threatened or challenged by him. Why raise their game if the pressure is off? Roy Keane wouldn't have accepted that level of performance. Quotes like this annoy me when he didn't bust some balls during the game and call a few of his 'team mates' out for a frankly pathetic showing

leadership is going to remain a real issue, does poch think yuseless is the best we've got?

The biggest WTF moment of the Poch reign so far has been YK being made captain. The second biggest is YK saying "that's football", the most banal of footballing banalities.

The choice of captains and vice captains (bar Lloris) were just baffling... let's hope they were put there for reasons that haven't been made apparent quite yet! Adebayor and Kaboul are among the last people I'd have considered. Jeez... I'm hoping the VC role for Adebayor was just to pacify him for the upcoming matches featuring Soldado as No.1 striker. Again, not a good motivation for picking captains.

I strongly agree with this. Picking a captain based on trying to get them to become a leader because they are not already, or to placate someone who will be in and out of the side is very disconcerting. I'm not convinced Lloris is captain material either based on position and an impression that he's too quiet or nice a guy.

I can't suggest anyone else for captain either, such is the dearth of leadership in the squad, so Poch should have left it alone for now until someone emerged and earned it.

I have a small fear that Poch is taking the Davey Moyes approach to stepping into a bigger club - giving everyone a chance to prove themselves, taking very modest steps in transfers and selection, trying to 'grow' into the role. He'd be naive, like Moyes was, to think he can just write off the season, which he will surely get at a minimum (unlike DM). We need bold leadership at spurs and he has to provide it. He needs to dominate and make some decisions, bend some noses out of joint, and impose himself as a character in the club. We need to break a downward trend, and if he thinks he has time to evolve that lasts longer than this time next year, then he's probably mistaken. And he'll be let down by the players because they've shown themselves to be that typical brand of 'always let you down' spurs team.

Come to think of it... I find it a little worrying that our captain of all the people is left scratching his head over the defeat. One would expect any team member to reflect on the game just a little and vow to fix any identified shortcomings for the next match. You don't throw your arms up and say you have no idea why the team sucked, ah well... Frak it!

C'mon man, you're the captain! You should be giving the team a proper dressing down!

Dressing room transcript:

"Ade! great job... And I'm not just saying that because you're <inaudible> vice captain!"
"Christian... Um ..yeah"
"Nacer! You errr... Okay I'll get back to you!"
"Hugo! This don't concern you! And it's got nothing to do with your appointment either!"
"Erik! Know any good Argentinian restaurants near my house? I'd ask the boss, but he's a little pissed right now!"
"Harry! Were you playing? Nevermind! Sit down!"
"Roberto! How's your back and your neck? Because even though you're BACK it's a pain in the NECK you didn't score... Ha ha... Get it? Pain in the neck?"
<discontent murmur>
"All right everybody... Listen up! Oh shoot! forgot what I was going to say! Are we still allowed to eat chips? My treat!"

Poch. has to remember that THFC motto is To Dare is to Do.. then instil this into his own mental attitude as well as the players. I do not want to see any more gutless, lazy, complacent performances in any fixture from now on.

I find these sorts of articles insulting. I wonder who at the club thinks it's a good idea.

If your players come out with things like this then it's no surprise fans believe it to be the truth; that players are stupid, unable to learn, continuing to make the same errors and lose the same type of games.

The club should stop this policy of having to say something every day, or posting multiple online updates throughout the day and stick to saying something meaningful.

There's Forest tomorrow and then something at the weekend that many of us now consider a disaster waiting to happen. Stories like this, Dembele's and Chadli's really don't help create any positive vibes ahead of that.

It really is quite simple Younes. When we play well organised defensive teams coming to the Lane to stop us playing, sit deep and hit us on the break we have been having the same problems since Modders ran the show in midfield: We don't move the ball fast enough and the pace, timing and accuracy of our passing is not good enough. Lamela and Dembele frequently tried to beat their markers and create space, but were both guilty of taking too many unnecessary touches, losing possession and slowing down our attacking moves. Add to that the nervous looking and insecure backline and you have the recipe for disaster.
The whole team looked unprepared and surprised that the Baggies closed us down so well - although they did the exact same thing on Boxing Day when we could well have lost too. In games like these we need to play much faster football, and when that just doesn't come off there must be a plan B of two strikers and more crosses. Poch tried that and we looked more dangerous for about five minutes until they scored and never after that. Not bringing in another strong striker for plan B scenarios like these was to me a massive blunder in the window, and Poch will have to work with what we have and make Ade and Robbie into a strikeforce that can be more of a threat.
The Forest game comes at a great time to try and solve some of the problems, and hopefully we can put on a much improved performance and reignite some of the inspiration that seemed to be present against QPR. In the meantime we should stop moaning, accept the current problems that we knew might hamper progress and GET BEHIND THE TEAM.
COYS!

Well it started once Vlad was named on the team sheet and then continued when Kaboul himself was named, everyone knows both these guys are just not good enough and have mistakes in them.

Vlad made 2 mistakes within the opening 3 minutes and younes always had a few shakey moments.

2 defensive mids at home against the bottom of the table team sets out a defensive tone and we couldn't even do that right as we were played off the park and the scoreline flattered us.

4-2-3-1 didn't work for AVB and it won't work for poch with this group so he has to go back to the well and come up with another plan asap
