You walk, your heart beating in your chest so hard you think you can hear your ribs creak under the pressure.

The membership card you're holding has been rubbed so hard in your sweaty clutch that a veneer has grown obscuring the words but the navy blue cockerel still stands out - proud, alert, erect on its round leather perch.

As you walk, the stands rise from the horizon, growing, moving towards the sky until they loom above you. The white and blue, so dear, so familiar that the colours are etched into every fibre of your being - never red, never red.

The turnstile, the sideways shuffle, the lobby. Slake the thirst - beer. Mmmmmm.

The gangway, up the stairs as the view turns green. And you step out into the stand for the very first time - into a new field of glory. A new home, not a replacement but an idea born from the original.

The first game at the new stadium in Stratford. To tell your grandchildren 'I was there, the first time Spurs played at Stratford. I was there when the cockerel stopped crowing and started shrieking triumph!'

You can be there, the first time. Be part of our history. What goes before will not be forgotten. White Hart Lane will be forever stamped in my heart as the home of football to me, but my heart has room enough for two.

If Stratford becomes the future, I would still carry the past, White Hart Lane, with me whenever I stepped onto the terraces.

Hotspur may be Tottenham, but Tottenham doesn't automatically mean Hotspur...

Quite ironic, the bolded bit.

As you exit Stratford tube station, get ambushed by West Ham bandits, make your way to Boots in Westfields Stratford to bandage yourself up, then head to TGI Fridays to share a drink with 10,000 people exhausted from Primark's latest sale.

You sip down your white wine spritzer, listening in to how someone from Credit Suisse only got £1m bonus this year but got free tickets to the opening game in Spurs new stadium.

You reminisce about times once spent at the B&H, The Brickies, Billy Nics and wander through the hordes of shoppers to get to the stadium.

You exit Westfield's and what's the first thing you see.

A 400 foot fucking monstrosity next to our new stadium.

In fucking red.

MattyP your comment sprung a long lost memory for me. One of my first experiences of corporate largesse occurred in 1987 at WHL! I was working as a market maker for Nat West in the city when some Tullette of Tokio brokers asked our dealing team what do we want to do one evening. Lets go and watch the Bruno v Bugner fight at Tottenham we said. After a slap up dinner on the way we went by cab from the city and were treated to pretty much front row seats at a hundred pound a go....nothing is really new is it?

It might not be anything new and is very much a necessary evil (and would be increased if the NDP went ahead).

Doesn't mean I have to like it.

As much as I still in the "stay in Tottenham and do the NDP" camp, I can't help be think this comment is akin to those complaining about the red in past sponsor logos.

The whole post was tongue in cheek, Az (apologies for the lack of smilies to emphasise that).

Though for the record, it was the club who marketed the Never Red aspect, when it suited them.

Never Red. Unless it's 400 foot worth of ugly metal proposed at the new stadium.

Disaster.

Of course that potentially could change.

Anyone heard Talk Sport this morning? Apparently Levy said he will "do whatever it takes to get us to Stratford" - didn't listen, just read the hyped up media report from Talk Sport.

Is this what he actually said or are they just trying to get angry callers in response?

My sentiments exactly re: Talksport! Never let the truth get in the way of a bit of over-sensationalising a story.

Wonder if Levy did say he'd do everything he could to get us to Stratford though? Did anyone hear it?

Wow ....he sounds like he won't let anything stand in his way.

You heard him loud and clear, he will do anything....

Does that mean he would even lie about the NLD?

This photo was obviously taken back in the day where WHL and the surrounding area was of an adequate standard to DL's ego. I'm surprised he hasn't tried to lease Wembley. Or try and relocate to Milton Keynes and call us MK Spurs.

A while back there was actually talk of a temporary move to Milton Keynes while WHL was being developed.
