That's us out then. He'll be too quick for our football

Joking (were you?) aside, we play slower football than that based on possession. We've already got Son and Clinton when fit, who can actually motor if given the chance. Will Poch decide to change our playing style? Personally I prefer pace but it's a matter of whether he'll fit and what the manager wants/needs.

He is Class. Definitely could fill in for Kane or play out wide. If he is available for the kind of money we'd be mad not to go in for him

You really believe he would join Spurs "just" to fill on for Kane "occasionally"? And he plays out wide in the same position as Son. Wouldn't it be proper to give Son more than half-a-season to settle and prove himself?
Williams seem like a top class prospect no doubt though so I am not saying I won't want him. Just trying to look at this in a realistic way.

Can't believe he has a £15m release fee.

Would that be for teams from abroad or Liga clubs too?
I think the problem is that the £15m has to be up-front and then there's tax issues as well.

So what you are basically saying is don't sign anyone and give Son a chance? It's clear that no-one in the squad right now can effectively play in Kane's position. Kane is one of the best STs in the league so anyone coming in from a new league isn't going to replace him. This kid could have taken Townsends space and offered further competition. We still have a long season ahead of us.
Not sure I get your point really sorry.

My point is that no top quality talent is willing to join Spurs to be a part time player and only get the chance when Kane is tired and/or unfit.
Williams will not join Spurs to be a permanent sub for Kane. I would like him to join but now he's extending his contract with Bilbao anyway it seem.
I am not saying that Son is the man to replace Kane but at least give him a season to settle. If half a season is all a Spurs player will get to prove himself many of the present Spurs players - like Rose, Dembele, Lamela, Kane (yes, Kane had a poor start at Spurs and was poor for some of the clubs he was loaned out to) - would have been sold a long time ago.

Mute point.

Kane can play number 10 also and we can play 2 up top so what we need is a number 9 for it to work.

So you want to play one of the most lethal CF in the EPL - if not in all of Europe right now - futher back in order to give an untested (in the EPL) 21 years old Kane's CF spot?
Since when did Poch play with CF up front since he came to Spurs? You mean Poch now is willing to change formation to accomodate Williams as CF?
I know Kane can play as number 10. Kane can also play as a goalkeeper

Translation - I am where I want to be ! (nb he's a die hard Athletico fan who wants to stay there)

Although not quite the €80m other outlets said, €50m isn't a crazy price to pay for someone with so much potential in 2-3 years time.

Spanish based journo who gave good info on the Soldado transfer saying its thought that Williams has a 'buy out' clause in his new 5 year contract of €50m, rather than the €80m quoted by some media outlets.

However given he's an Athletico fan who's just signed a new 5 year contract there, I'd suggest there's little chance of him leaving in the short term unless for really stupid money - and we wouldn't offer that !
