Must say I have a deep sense of foreboding about Mason's injury.

Left the stadium on crutches.

Could mean a great many things though, fortunately. In fact, I would suspect it may be club protocol to put most lower extremity injuries on crutches until the x-Ray and/or MRI is done.

Straight forward knock as far as I could tell. Hurts but doesn't look serious.

The worry for me is the way he stays on his feet for a bit after the goal, then realises something is up and goes down and stays down.

The fact he came out smiling in the post match picture could show he's not too worried, if he felt its a serious knee injury I'm sure he'd be distraught after nailing down a first eleven position and scoring the winning goal.

They will want him to take the weight off his knee until they know the extent of any injury to his knee.
I am hoping its just a wack on the knee and he will be fine for next week...

Im told we will wait for a day or two for bruising to come out and swelling to go down. Then will reassess. Normal procedure for contact injuries i believe.

So with nabil being out a few weeks, and mason potentially being out a bit. Will our midfield be able to cope? Especially with our big games coming up? Alli could do the job possibly, otherwise Carroll will have to. But if moussa goes in CM for a bit we could see a resurgence from him in that position, different player from mason and nabil but he played his best there with Sandro beside him, Eric is developing into his own breed of beast

I think Alli should start for Mason. We need someone who can drive forward from the position, Carroll and Moussa dont do that. I also believe that Alli will be better playing deeper then as a number 10.

Mason got a bang on the knee, no twist (ligaments), no break (bones). Anyone who has ever clashed knees after colliding with an opponent will tell you that you can manage about 2 steps before the pain kicks in (then collapse). Painful but most likely not serious. Just about the worst case from that type of knock is a fractured patella which can be pretty serious though.

Shame we have so many big home games in such a short space of time as even if he's not back fully fit for say 2 weeks he would miss 4 games :(

Anyone know if Pritchard is injured at all? Omission from tonight's game suggests he is?

I don't think so. It's probably the case that he's still going through his pre-season (being that he missed the proper one with injury) and is building up his match fitness.

But he's already played this season...

Good call. Poch does like his players at full fitness before playing them.
