Mason got a bang on the knee, no twist (ligaments), no break (bones). Anyone who has ever clashed knees after colliding with an opponent will tell you that you can manage about 2 steps before the pain kicks in (then collapse). Painful but most likely not serious. Just about the worst case from that type of knock is a fractured patella which can be pretty serious though.

That's what I'm concerned about. Possible fracture.

Ok So Eriksen back, great news.

Dembele and Mason facing fitness tests on foot and knee injuries respectively so must be close.

Bentaleb still2-3 weeks away with ankle injury.

Pritchard supposedly still struggling with ankle injury picked up in summer, return date unknown.

A bloke on Twitter said Son hopeful to return to training next week but unlikely to face Liverpool. Pinch of salt...

25th September :

Nabil Bentaleb, Mousa Dembele, Ryan Mason and Alex Pritchard remain sidelined for tomorrow's (Saturday, September 26, 12.45pm) huge game against Manchester City.

"All four are close, but all four are out," reported Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino after training on Friday.

Mousa has been out since picking up a foot injury against Everton on August 29, Nabil has missed our last four matches with an ankle problem, Ryan damaged his knee in scoring the winner at Sunderland on September 13 and Alex has an ankle problem

If all 4 were 'close' to a return on 25 September, you'd expect/hope all 4 to be available for the Liverpool game (Dembele of course appeared off the bench v Swansea).

For what its worth http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php#c19 (who tend to work off average recovery times) says :

Back for Liverpool 17 Oct - Mason, Bentaleb, Rose
Back for 22 Oct - Son
Back for 25 Oct - Pritchard

Feel so bad for Pritchard. Can't wait to see him in the team

Absolutely gutted, genuinely thought he'd be able to bring something to our squad this season. :(

We were a bit lucky last year, but even this year, the types of injuries sustained aren't muscular.

There'll always be a risk of ankles being twisted and various knocks happening, but muscular injuries seems to have been more or less eliminated. Which is a huge credit to conditioning work.

Pritchard's had surgery - out until the new year :(

Seriously, fuck that u21 tournament. Pritch's season is not far from being a write off and Kane is, if not quite burnt out, then at least looking like he needs a rest.

That type of tournament should be the reserve of genuine youth players, ie players who have something to prove before reaching the top level. Pritch arguably falls into that category, but there's no way a guy scoring 20+ goals in the top flight should have had to play in it.

They should have the u21 tournament the same summer as the senior. So you have to pick which one they can enter. Will reduce burnout.

OS official announcement

Hugely disappointing news, had hoped he would have had a few games pre-Christmas to allow him to move into becoming a genuine first team candidate.

I echo the sentiments above about the E u21's - crazy tournament for any player genuinely part of a first team squad, and particularly disappointing that the Sky 4 got most of their players released from it which meant we had to many payers involved.

One tiny glimmer of consolation with these situations it's that at least it's one less player to keep happy not getting much time on pitch
