Indeed, and Foyth didn't even go to the WC.
Just Toby and Jan left in central defence then. Here's hoping Foyth isn't out too long but with Sanchez still on the sidelines we might need Dier to drop back there for the odd game. That in itself is problematic as we're very light in central midfield.

Skipp I imagine will step in to help out if Dier has to drop back, and I reckon he'll put in a good shift, like winks, seems the determined type.

Trip out with groin injury, Foyth out with hamstring injury. What the fuck is happening with hamstring injuries this season, that's the fifth we've had.

Something is up isn’t it. Hamstrings are usually down to tiredness unless you’re unlucky aren't they?

Not that Foyth has played loads but when you factor in he’s new to this level and international football after not playing so many matches, it wouldn’t be a stretch that he’s injured because of tiredness.

The way you said that it's as if they're 3rd and 4th choice lol

ha, we have to settle for Jan and Toby
I guess I was thinking of the "Team v Leicester" thread - a few people were putting Foyth in the side with Barca in mind a few days later. Personally I would've played Jan and Toby in both games and then brought in Foyth for Burnley but perhaps the injury changes that.

Defensive midfielder has to be priority numero uno in January.

Where's the wishlist gone, I've been wanting to say that De Jong and N'Dombele are the two players we needed but we've moved too late.

Don't worry - a few hundred people already said it in that thread.

What I glean from todays update: Sounds like Dembele and Aurier might be back by the end of the month with Foyth and Sanchez behind them. Trippier a bit further behind and Wanyama no where close. Could be wrong but that’s what it sounds like to me

Do they need to be so cryptic with the updates? Just tell us who can play Saturday and who can’t.

I think you have it slightly backward - Sanchez and Foyth are already into conditioning, and should be back soon, while Dembele and Aurier are still in the re-hab phase, with conditioning still to come.

Generally - it will be re-hab -> conditioning -> full squad training

The other bonus of the injury saga is that everyone from WC has now had a decent rest.
