There's a crazy history of our DMs having one brilliant season and never getting back to that level. Could be applied to all of Palacios, Parker, Sandro, Dier (to a lesser degree, and I'd slightly disagree with this one myself) and Wanyama.

Interesting observation

They're all 'destroyer' types so I wonder if they put their bodies under too much strain?

That said, I think Parker was getting older anyway

Was Palacios fucked by injury then?

I remember him being immense for us, then he was injured and Modric moved central to partner Huddlestone and ‘Arry stuck with them.

He never reached that level again for Stoke though so did always seem odd to me...

Parker yeah waiting for him for years and he was simply splendid that season then he faded. Took too long to get him. :-(

You would have thought Wilson would have come back in and Huddlestone dropped, if he was in the same form

Modric could handle the passing (which Huddlestone was also good at) and Wilson would be the 'enforcer'.

It was his brother being kidnapped and murdered that did him in, ruined psychologically rather than physically. Never got back to his best after that.

You can add Didier Zokoro to that list. He was a beast for a season but then contracted malaria (which can apparently re-emerge randomly for the rest of your life) and we never saw that player again

Assuming you’re talking about the guy with a similar name, he did go on to play two or three hundred games after leaving Tottenham.

Anyone else annoyed with stupid pundits saying spurs are one or two injuries away from being in trouble?

Lloris missed 4 games trippier 5 games Vertonghen 10 games Sanchez 7 games Aurier 9 games. That is just the defence

Dier Eriksen Dele about 5 each. Wanyama Dembele missed last 8..

Can't remember Zokora being a beast tbh

Cup final vs chelsea he was, best performance for the club that afternoon, destroyed everything in his path.

Too often was lightweight, that Chelsea game was the exception not the rule. Had high hopes for him after wc 2006 as well

Fpl website under minutes played and counted the zeros for minutes when they were in bunches - very sophisticated

 Ouch. I was sure there was a website that had a cumulative injury league somewhere but couldn't find it - was in a similar argument with a scouser.
