Hopefully he'll play a part next season even if we do end up signing a midfield player.

Totally agree. He has the ability to win battles single handedly but we need to understand it's 1 game every 1 or 2 weeks to help with injuries

Why not offer him a coaching role for next season if he can't get a playing deal elsewhere?

Because he has said he won't be involved in football once he retires as a player.

From ESPN:

Dembele has a number of years at the top level ahead of him, but when he does finish playing, he has no intention of remaining in the game.
"No chance. You won't see me back in football anytime soon," Dembele told Sport/Foot. "I'm not excluding it 100 percent, but even at 18 I was already saying that I wouldn't stay in the business when my career ended. I still say it.
"Not as manager, not on television or in any other role. But you never know. Maybe I'll change my mind in three to four years' time."

So Dembele wants out and all here seem to be o.k.with him staying ;well I am wanting him gone big time
He has had a lucrative offer from china but turned it down stating it was not the right time for downgrading to asia
He was wanted by Inter Milan but wanted to wait for a bigger club/offer .Well the few clubs bigger than the Milan giants are not going to bid for Dembele
I think its a pisstake either go or commit and not this no mans land stuff

if he does not want to sign a new contract to my eyes he wants out
Or he could run down his contract and leave on a Bosman in which case he is looking for a big signing on fee with a new club when his current contract runs out
All I can say is that Poch insists on total commitment and if Dembele wants to run his contract down he won't be getting much time in the first team and nor should he when you have other youngsters who would sweat blood given the chance
I still don't get this blind worship of a player who is blatantly doing the club down for his own aims
No doubt some will say who can blame well I do the greedy git
I wish we could have players now like of old with total loyalty the likes of Smith;Greaves;Gilzean;Beale;Perryman;Hazard ;Roberts
This is the way of the football world now greedy gits in the majority

Thanks. Shame though.
