Match: Champions League, Group B Round 1

When : Tuesday September 18th 2018

Where: Stadium - Giuseppe Meazza

Kick Off: 05:55 pm

Form: Milan WLDWL Spurs WWWLL (All competitions)

This will be the 5th meeting in European competition between us and Milan, with both sides winning two matches each of the previous four. Both of us have won our two previous home games against each other, with neither side managing to pick up a victory on the road against our counterparts.

Between us we have scored 19 goals in the previous four meetings, with Milan netting 9 times and we 10. We last met Inter in the CL back during the 1010 / 2011 group stages, losing 3-4 away from home (despite bale scoring a hattrick) and winning 3-1 at home. The most recent meeting between us came in 2012-13 UEFA Europa League, with us winning on away goals after the two ties eneded 4-4 on Aggregate in our last 16 tie.

After qualifying for the competition for 10 consecutive years between 20002-3 and 2011-12, Inter will be competing in the CL for the first time in seven years, their longest wait since the rebranding of the tournament in 1992/93. We have won just one of our previous nine European matches away from home against Italian opposition (D4, L4), but the victory did come at the San Siro against AC Milan thanks to Peter Couch's winner (1-0). We only lost one of our eight CL games last season (W5, D2), the 2nd leg of our round 16 match against Juventus (1-2).

Kane has scored nine goals in 10 CL appearances so in his career. The fastest players to 10 CL goals are currently Adriano, Sadio mane and Roberto Firmino (11 appearances). Kane could equal this is he scores in this match

Tottenham will without Lloris, Dele, Trippier and Toby for this game.

This could go either way. We obviously need a good reaction, I'm thinking that leaving Kane out could really put a rocket up him and the whole squad.

Skip to 14 minutes if you want to ignore the horror show that was the first half :)

Note the kick off time. 5.55pm! there are two time slots for the group games, maybe even beyond that.

Got that eerie premonition that it's gonna be fucked in the first 10 minutes again.

Heart says we'll be OK though. They aren't anywhere near the team they once were.

If we start Lamela and Son and Poch shakes up the team in general I’m fairly confident we will win. Inter have a great deal of qulity but as I have mentioned in the team for Inter thread, Spalletti isn’t getting what he needs from his players. Their team will be under a lot more pressure then we will. Ether way it should be a good game.

I am excited.
Im quite meh about it, think its our recent performances and the gloomy looking Poch we're seeing lately, we just look so slow and ponderous and dare I say it - fucking knackered. Hopefully we get a good win and crack on, not expecting much tonight though.

Beat inter and its a fairly decent start to the season

Massive game

Loose to Watford away and Liverpool at home. Nope, not close to a decent start at all. We play like shit and won't win a thing they way we're performing atm, which Poch has just said today actually.

Happy to get tonked if I am honest. Poch will continue to make statements by the play on the pitch. The focus will be back on the man with the purse strings.

I'm finding it hard to get excited about this one, partly because the early kick off time means I'll miss most if not all of the match, and partly because we've looked so insipid recently.

That said, Inter have started the season poorly - just one win in 4 matches and they were beaten at home by Parma on Saturday. That should give us some confidence - I just hope we play well with energy and a spark.

Why would you drop Aldo and Trippier in an important first Euro match? Nobody has played well in our last 2 games but why single them out, they are two of our best players? I don't think Sanchez is a better player than Aldo and Aurier is an accident waiting to happen. Poch did this a couple of seasons ago when he dropped key players for Euro games and it failed miserably. It's all very well blaming the players for our poor form and rightly so but he has to have a good look at himself lately with his line-ups and substitutions. He could end up the manager that everybody likes but never won anything.

He's rotating them, as is the entire point of having a squad. And particularly when Toby and Trips have had basically no pre season and you've decided they're not going to start, what is better - they travel to Italy to sit on the bench, or they stay at home to work on their conditioning and get ready for the game on the weekend?
