That both of them had a fight
Wait so the story was that the two of them got into it? I hadn't bothered to look for the rumored reason.

Can't blame Toby as Trippier was so bad causing that second goal. I say that as possibly the biggest Toby apologist on the forum.

That is simply not true. 2 years ago we were dumped out of CL in humiliating fashion from a group we were supposed to top. We recovered from that to be the only serious challengers for the title. We then topped the group of death the following year.

This group and manager deserves more faith from us.

Mate, two years ago was our first CL campaign under his reign. We crashed out of both the CL and EL but managed to sustain a challenge with no European distraction.

I don’t want to list all the PR internal turmoil again but this is much worse than 3 losses on the trot, which again is the worst loss run since he took over. I posted something in the Poch thread on my faith in the squad and him but let’s call this spade a damn spade.

Don't you think expectations should be altered as the results over the past few years have?

Does Napoli think oh man second was great last year after we were in Serie B 7 years ago?
Yes, Napoli should and do, because they pushed Jive very hard.

I hope Poch freshens up the midfield for Brighton. Some players look like a rest might benefit them ... and the team.
I'm concerned but not worried at this stage. Anything less than 3 points vs Brighton may up the pressure a little more though ..

Looks like investment and faith in the Liverpool team and its manager is paying off right now.

I agree with you that it’s a joke we didn’t bring in one single player but they did deservedly win today without a single outfield new signing starting the game.

I guess it’s a case of new signings sparking life into the squad, however that works, but are we saying that what Klopp has gotten his players from last season firing again on all sylinders because he got backed but Poch hasn’t? Because that looks horrendous on Poch if that’s the case, the players have not nowhere near performed at the same level they did last season, yet Liverpool players from last season have. I think the issue is way, way more complex than it’s gone tits up because we didn’t sign Grealish and a CM to be honest.

If you look at it, their players havent played throughout summer, ours in the main have played. Its no coincidence our freshest player is Lucas and he has been our best this season. Aurier looked fresh today.

Im not trying to find excuses and agree the issue is way more complex and i think it is a multitude of factors,

No, you're absolutely right, it's a lot more complicated than that. However, some of the problems are clearly attributable to consistently wanting caviar for the price of pilchards, i.e. completely unsustainable.

I think the World Cup excuse is a cop out to be honest. There’s plenty of players who played in it who have started the season well or extremely well in say Hazards case. I can understand it causing a hindrance 4/5 months into the season but I’m not buying it right now. I don’t think the players have look fatigued (I think Kane’s issue is a physical problem), I think they’ve looked like they aren’t focused, have lost drive, confidence and a spark.

There are reasons they’re not performing. And the fear is that Poch will not be able to stop it. We needed signings to improve the team and give us a better chance of winning something. Levy didn’t get them. The squad are disillusioned. Many are at their peak - largely due to Poch and the club - but they’re not winning anything. That’s going to make any ‘worker’ want to go to a better firm. And forget loyalty. This is football.

I said in the summer that the wheels could fall off very quickly and was utterly shouted down. I just look at our squad and I see a genuine lack of quality in the middle of the park.

Dier is a very average CM. Dembele is too old. Winks is not good enough. Wanyam hasn't kicked a ball in anger for over a year.

Levy and the board massively let the fans down with the lack of signings in the summer. Some of us could see this coming when we failed to strengthen.

We came up short last season in all competitions yet somehow the club decided that we didn't need further additions. The mind boggles.

If Toby and Rose stayed which they ended up doing I only wanted us to sign a CM in the summer, I had faith in Lucas and I like lamela so I couldn’t see room in attacking midfield positions. It would be great to have a star backup for Kane, but Kane always starts plus no one decent is coming here to sit on bench anyway.

Poch loves Dier so the idea of signing a new DM never entered my mind plus I hoped Wanyama would return to fitness and at least put pressure on him. It’s harsh to write off Winks and Poch is clearly a fan of his.

This idea we should have backed Poch with £100m, £150m doesn’t make any sense to me with Toby and Rose staying, there isn’t any room in the squad to buy 4 new signings without probably two mids being paid to never start a game.

I thought I was being fair and realistic and it still baffles me we couldn’t find a single quality CM the entire summer. It would’ve freshened things up so nicely to have someone with passing ability in the centre of the park. It was and is such a painfully important position in this team.

Thats why I think its a multitude of factors. It isnt necessarily just one factor that is causing this slump. Chelsea had a new manager come in and brought about some freshness to the team to the club. Its is a simple explanation but is a highly probable reason.

Its like staleness in a relationship, if you do the same things, go to the same restaurants, bars and becomes routing, it could cause an air of boredom etc. Its not a direct analogy but you get what I mean.

Kane is a concern, but if it is physical or is fatigue then why is Poch continuing to play him? and our slump is a complex issue, you cannot put your finger on one thing.

anyway, I was immensely pleased with that game until the last 5 minutes. both sides looked content to frustrate the other and split the points and without being spectacular we looked to win. 4 goal conceded off a corner this year in just 6 matches, btw.

Sorry but I have to disagree there. Lucas was fantastic as an impact sub, making two or three high quality chances. If we take one of them we go 2-0 up, we win the game, and Poche gets the credit for the sub that sealed it.
He took off Son for Lucas, Son was our best attacker at that point. Today was not about luck it was about poor management imo.

This club in a nutshell.... one step forward, two steps back. Thought Dele Eriksen & Verts had new contracts from ‘ITK’
