But Evans & Houlier didn't have to contend with the likes of Abramovich's chelsea and the billionaire ownership of other teams (and the general allround improvement in quality) or even a resurgent spurs did they. Their premiership was a slightly tamer affair than the one Benitez is playing in, don't you think ?

Do you not think Benitez is a good coach then or were you just splitting hairs because you're still miffed about Jol ?

I think he's a good coach, but not in the same class as Wenger or Mourinho, and I daresay if this were a Liverpool board you'd be giving your weekly commentary on his shortcomings and team selections. We need Ramos to be a good deal better.

Pretty sure that Ramos has to be affected to some degree by the opinions that Monchi was the real reason for his success, so he'll definitely be buying significantly in the summer...he might possibly be overriding Comolli here and there, assuming the rumours are true. Whether we get the Benitez Treadmill again is another matter. The only thing we can be certain once he takes over is that he'll whip the players into physical shape and he'll drop them if they produce dreck. That's never a bad thing.

Sounds promising, very promising!

Would love it if Alves, Adriano, Poulsen and maybe even kanoute jumped ship....sounds form that like the players have a huge amount of respect for him!

Juande Ramos' blue and white army!!

I love these spats between 57 and BC.

The simple, glaringly obvious fact is that there is no team at Tottenham. You are both singing from the same hymn sheet, albeit from different choirs.

I do agree with BC though. The past isn't the present 57. Forget about it.

Think very carefully about this.

I don't reckon he will bring in any shit or accept any shit being hoisted upon him .

Can Ramos really be that much better than Jol would have been if he had been given Petrov , Elano and Distin which is who he says he asked for ?

Surely Jol would have taken us to the point of diminishing returns without anything like the outlay of getting Ramos .

Sad thing is we will never know for sure .

Wish both Jol and Ramos well .

I'm not so sure we will see wholesale changes. He has time before he can make any movements in or out, if ramos is as good at man management as the reports suggest I expect to see an improvement in some of our players. Remember we still have the majority of players that got us to 5th.

i always thought kershakov looked like a great player for sevilla , saying that we have brilliant strikers, so we are sorted there really.

yeh 6 points off Arsenal and Man U with a game in hand on Man U - they are totally out of the race..........:bang:

And with Torres out for three weeks, Alonso until Christmas (both due to Benitez' masterstroke of rushing them back into the team before they were fully recovered from injuries), and Mascherano and Pennant crocked too. Their game in hand is against Blackburn, away. It's possibly too early to write them off completely, but they've hardly looked convincing title challengers.
