The World Cup qualifying campaign continued in North America this week, with Giovani Dos Santos' Mexico enjoying victory in their bid to reach South Africa in 2010.
Gio played 56 minutes in Sven Goran Eriksson's side's 2-1 home win over Honduras at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City in Group 2. In the same group, Paul Stalteri featured for Canada as they drew 1-1 at home to Jamaica.
Across Europe, our international players were involved in friendly action. Jermaine Jenas, Jonathan Woodgate and David Bentley all came on as second-half substitutes in England's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic at Wembley, while Dimitar Berbatov scored both goals as Bulgaria beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1.
Luka Modric's Croatia warmed up for their upcoming World Cup qualifying showdown with England next month with a 3-2 win in Slovenia, while in Africa, Didier Zokora's Ivory Coast enjoyed success with a 2-1 win against Guinea.
At Under-21 level, Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter both featured for Wales as they looked to book a play-off place for the European Championships finals against Romania at Wrexham. A win would have secured their berth, but they slipped to a 1-0 reverse
