Preston 1 - Spurs 5

Irish radio station reports score and mentions Keanes goal....No mention of Crouch hat-trick!

He is the national team captain and best player - I think most Irish people would be more interested in Keane scoring than Crouch. The radio are just doing their job.

How do Sky Sports News report an LA Galaxy game?

 True. Every country does it. Even when Beckham was at Real, he would get one assist or almost score and it would be mentioned, and if a striker grabbed a brace it'd sometimes go unreported.

Irish media outlets spend most of their (below par) days talking about Manure, Pool, Chelski or Manky.....The Scum do not get too much coverage....Thank God.....HOWEVER....it is rich for an English person to accuse the Irish Media of 'parochialism'. Get a mirror and look to thee self ha ha! Ofcourse....Engerlund did win a WC (well they collected a Trophy) in 1666....or was that the Great Fire of Lunding? COYS!

Ireland is an extremely patriotic country - very proud of its sportsmen and women and their achievements - mostly as underdogs.

The population of the Republic is around 5 million at the moment so they don't do too bad in the honours stakes.

It is actually worse within the country. Inter-county rivalry is extremely fierce. For example, I live in Dublin, the capital. It is perfectly acceptable for anyone, man, woman or dog, to wear a county jersey from any county in the 32 nations within Dublin without anybody paying a blind bit of notice.

However, it is almost illegal for a person from Dublin to wear a Dublin county jersey outside of Dublin unless Dublin are playing in that county and your at the game. In my youth I made the mistake of walking through Cork wearing a Dublin jersey on a random Saturday. I was working down there as an apprentice and didn't think much of it. I had abuse hurled at me, even from old women, a child spat at me and a guy ran out of a pub and donkey punched me and legged it.

Never try to understand Irish nationalism, because it makes no sense, especially when dealing with people from Cork. I remember Roy Keane once saying that he considered himself a Corkman rather than an Irishman.

My Old Man's house is in Co.Kilkenny - on the other side of the bridge where he lives it becomes Wexford -Where all of my lot are from. Talk about tribal, its The Kilkenny Cats" the "Waterford Rats" and the "Wexford Yellowbellies"

Mind you they all dislike the Dub's... there are shitloads of Dubs who have second homes down in the sunny south east and they have inflated all the prices for the locals.
Just like down in Devon and Cornwall over here.
