My hero as a kid and seeing him now, looking that little bit better, makes me so happy. Pathetic really.

He is ya know!

Me and my dad (who's a spammer) still shout "THAT....IS.....SCHOOLBOYS....OWN....STUFF" whenever one of us bangs in a screamer...luckily for me it's me more often than him these days!

Oh, and like you say this was 18 years ago and my memory is shit, but the "Linekar uses his man by not using him" line, either this game, or the final against Forest...haha immortal

I Was about ten then, a very emotional season. We were constantly being told how we were close to collopse (everytime our game was on tv *mainly the cup run*) but that cup run and especially GAzza was pure magic.

Gazza actually dragged us through the early rounds and his free kick against Arsenal paved the way to get us to the final. It was a shame things worked out how they did for him against Forest, he never was the same player (probably the worlds best at the time)

Good memories

OH I SAY!!

Brilliant.

When I did my voicemail this morning I knew the 14 April rang a bell as I said it. I checked out birthdays just in case I'd missed one and it only dawned on me at about 11 that it was St. Gascoigne's Day.

"And Seaman... will be very disappointed about that."

What a fucking great day.

Heh heh.

I'll never forget that free kick.

It was legend.

I didn't hear the commentary til I got home and had it on VHS for years!

I tell you what, for all the brilliance of Gazza and Lineker that day it also showed what a great commentator Barry Davies was.

Can you imagine the Motson-Lawrenson Axis of Nonsense coming up with anything to match the beauty of "That... is Schoolboys' Own stuff" or "Lineker uses him by not using him".

My memories of that day would be at least 27% less spine-tingly if Motson had been commentating.

Like Stoof said I knew something was special about todays date, I couldn't put my finger on it until I read this thread.

I used to know the exact time "it" happened, that Gascoigne magical moment, but for the life of me I can't remember any more.
