Oh I say!

When England played Russia in Moscow in 1992 after the game we saw the England b-team on their bus outside the ground. I caught David Seaman's eye with some manic waving and stripped off my jacket to show him my Lillies t-shirt and his face fell to the coach floor as I encouraged him to read the immortal words...
Gary Mabbut happened to be stood next to him and pissed himself laughing, as did I...

That's awesome, and inspirational, in equal measure

Just watching the Gascoigne film on Netflix.

Some amazing memories but what struck me is how unlucky he's been in his life. Some key things happened to him which has led to him being the way he is today.

Was my hero back then, feel sorry for him now but would love to meet him to say thank you for the memories at Spurs.

Could do with another bit of semi final magic next week. And Wembley magic tonight. Good to see Gazza in good form these days too. Happy April 14th!

I've still got the flexi vinyl somewhere of this, they gave it out with The Spur, which was a fucking awesome fanzine.

Heh heh.

I'll never forget that free kick.

It was legend.

I didn't hear the commentary til I got home and had it on VHS for years!

Me neither. Where I was sat, I was directly behind it, watched it arrow into the top corner, fucking magic!!

Was going back to uni after a break and was sharing the house with a scum fan at the time. What a blinding day, remember it was roasting hot too, don’t think I stopped smiling for months.

I was 12, watched it upstairs with my cousin (Geordie... Supporting us for the gazza link). We both went mental when it went in. Amazing game, amazing goal.

I thought we were sending him in with a couple of butties and a six pack to calm Assad down for a sec.

Still the best game I've ever been to. Great thread @Dougal
Even though I also went to the final against Forest I would have to say that for sheer atmosphere and drama it's a real tough call as to the best Spurs game I've been to, for me it's neck and neck between this Semi Final and the 1984 UEFA Cup final 2nd leg.
I still remember saying to the bloke immediately to my left as we were up the other end, as Gazza strode up to take the free kick that "if it goes in then the roof will bloody well come off" , and you know what the roar of the crowd and the sheer elation felt like it had done exactly that......

One of my earliest memories as a Spurs fan. 7 yrs old. Think I had started supporting them the year before. Little did I know the dross the next 15 years would generally bring!

Today, I know it's asking for a lot but I'd happily settle for an Eriksen free kick in similar style to start things off followed by a brace from HK with them only scoring one in reply..........

I remember getting back downstairs, and as I sat down Lineker scored "I shouted get in there, 1-0 to the mighty Spurs" just too piss off the ex-gooner wife (fiancée at time), for the commentator to say 2-0. I had something in common with Gazza, I had a shot and scored at the same time, against a gooner:whistle:

The boy had magic in his feet

This was the year I first really believed in Spurs to win, A chunky kid from Newcastle, Gary Lineker and El Tel pulling the moves.

I always connected myself more with Gary Mabbutt though, I never shone like Gazza but I've spent a lifetime proving I win in the long run. (least I hope i do)

great memories
