I hope not to have mislead a few people with this title as the intention was not to compare Ramos 'the manager' to Ossie 'the player' or even manager. There records as managers are plain to see.

My point is altogether a different one, and one that brings a smile to my face as I listened to Ramos's first press conference and heard the glorious name of our beloved club in the same fashion that ossie used to pronounce it, yes we are 'Tottingham again'. That same Spanish pronunciation that made the corners of our mouths turn up, and I remember those years as a proud supporter, playing in finals, finishing in the top half of the league, playing with the Spurs swagger.

Maybe, just maybe we have been lacking that latino style.
Viva el 'Tottingham'

I agree that there is something highly amusing about European accents.

Racist? Probably.
Yet funny? Absolutely.

Not racist as the Spanish aren't a race and nor are Europeans. Not sure what the word would be. Anyway, it's funny in a nice way, so it's OK.

So this is just a long winded way of saying he mispronounces Tottenham, right?

The Spanish Vuelta is a race though, a cycling race.
BTW, a Spaniard would likely pronounce it
Toten-Ham (ham like in Sandwish ham)

It's not xenophobic if he says he likes it or finds it funny.

Foreigners speaking English are funny, by definition. And that includes Yanks.

The same goes for the English when they try pronouncing foreign words and names. Any footy commentary is evidence of this.

My girlfriend is Spanish and when I met her family I was asked whom I supported.
Tottenham was my reply (but with my West London accent it was probably more Tottnem)
Of course they had no idea who I was talking about until my girlfriend jumped in with Tot-ing-ham.
How we laughed
Made a several Spanish people hate Arsenal and Chelsea that night.
